In Bio-Cup 2018, one peacock failed to bring me past round one. For Bio-Cup 2021 round one this time, I present two peacocks. It's foolproof.
Subtheme: Paintings/Drawings
Art Nouveau table lamp, inspired by the antique Tiffany lamps designed during "La Belle Époque" (the stained-glass dragonfly lamp, among others that I referenced).
"Yes" it is all LEGO (apart from the table, and wall behind), and "no" it does not light up as of yet. Only official LEGO parts are allowed for the BIO-CUP competition, but I do plan to look into adding custom lighting in the future (... optimistically for when it is shown at an in-person LEGO convention someday)

Grandmother Spider, or the Spider Woman, is a Native American deity who appears in native lore across the continent. The Hopi believe that she weaved the universe into existence... the Navajo taught that she was the savior of human kind....The Cherokee say she brought the sun and light to the people. No matter the context, the foundation remains the same: Grandmother Spider is a mother to human kind, protecting and nurturing with her magic.
But of course, we have a futuristic spin on things. My Metal Gear fans will know where I took physical inspiration from. For those not familiar, take a look into MSG's Beauty and the Beast Unit. I really wanted to put an emphasis on her ability to weave humanity and nature into existence with these threads of pure energy. The great designer of souls. I adorned her with 6 great mechanical arms that are powered by an endless solar energy source.... in the palm of her hands. Another callback to her bringing the pure essence of the sun to the people who were cast into darkness.

Munch's painting is creepy and uncomfortable, with a large, eerie shadow that seems to pervade into the space the girl resides in. From the pose and shadow, I ended up developing a science fantasy world and characters that would convey at least part of the feeling the painting gives off.
For me, paintings are all about the composition and so for this round I challenged myself to create a scene for characters to inhabit. Thank you to the many people that provided valuable feedback and encouragement while I was creating it.
Ngen-Mawida sits alone, waiting for the day his brothers and sisters will return to him.
Based off of the Mapuche myth of the Ngen, a group of spirits that govern different aspects of nature.

for biocup 2021 prelims. an alternate version of events where a more artistic version of teridax succeeded in killing takanuva and turned him into a decorative desk lamp. i wanted to really sell that idea so barely any pieces that would have existed after that point in the story have been used (metru nui being a prequel story which is why the blades were allowed for detailing and the canister lid for the shade).

My entry to the Redemption round of Bio-Cup 2021. I loosely based the build on traditional masks and imagery of Dogon, indigenous peoples of Mali, whose beliefs are centered around amphibious, aquatic ancestors.
Based on the main character from Dead Cells. Really love its design in the game, though I've never played it.

I'v always wanted to try to do a moderately anatomically accurate athletic body and I figured, except for comicaly large hands and feet, Axonn fit the description perfectly (that's all the big wheels I had, of course he can deadlift way more than that im sure)

Designed in a misguided attempt to end world hunger, the DinerBot3000s were created to bring 24-hour breakfast to the masses. Instead, they went rogue, wandering the countryside overcooking greasy eggs and leaking a trail of what seems to be ... syrup?
Bit of a slapdash build for Round 3 of Bio Cup. I've had next to no time to dedicated to it and my build time was already cut in half by a work trip I left for today. Hopefully when I get back home I can clean it up and do more with the concept.
