Title: ‘Bindi’

Medium: mixed media on paper

Size: 19.5"x13"

Description:

A composition inspired by and created using bindis which is a coloured dot ( various shapes) worn by women and men on their forehead in my country (India) as well as in other asian countries.

Traditionally, the area between the eyebrows (where the bindi is placed) is said to be the sixth chakra, ajna, the seat of "concealed wisdom". The bindi is said to retain energy and strengthen concentration. The bindi also represents the third eye.

Gordon & I went to 13th Street's newest restaurant. Run by the owners of Lolita, one of our favorite BYOBs in Philly, Bindi is a fresh take on Indian cuisine. It was really good, if a little spicy. :-)

Bindi, a two-year old Chihuahua and Hawk, a four-month Shih-Tzu mix puppy, are enjoying the nice weather before it gets really hot here (in Arizona, USA).

We got bindis at the ceremony. We couldn't refuse.

This is also our hotel room, by the way. We had bed bugs that night.
