Mary Jane lived with Bill and Jess in the lead up to Jess's death in September 1952. She remained living at Northwood and Bill cared for her until her death 15 months later. The day Mary Jane died it was 107 degrees, the hottest day since 1904. On the day of the funeral it was cool with a squally southerly change become cloudy with showers.
