I was contacted by Claire, the lead instructor and owner at Bikram Yoga Ottawa, to photograph her teachers for their updated website. They were going for a slight rebrand, along with custom imagery that would reflect their unique studio space overlooking Ottawa's downtown.
Having seen a lot of yoga photos, I knew there was the potential she'd want some "soft" lifestyle-like images, but I wanted to counter with a harder creative look to reflect the difficulty Bikram, and hot yoga, brings to it's practitioners. She totally dug it, and we took the tiny elevator up to their studio for an incredible morning shoot, having them hold some fairly difficult poses for *just* long enough to get the perfect shot.

Strobist info : Shot with a Nikon D3 with an Allien Bee 800 Octabox Camera left and a Soft box 600 Camera left and one snoot light back left. Shot in a studio with a black background. Post processing was with lucasart filter and a little dodge and burn to bring out the muscularity.
