"Remember to smile."

Looks like this dragonfly has a big smile ;-))
Happy week ahead.
From my archives, I haven't seen them flying in the garden yet.
Last Thursday, I went to Mom's house, as I always do; we did a little art and laughed and talked. When our night time caregiver, Bonnie came in, she had a companion! This is Howard, whom she found fossicking about in her attic! He said he somehow got up the stairs and got turned around and didn't know how to get out, so he just sat there. NO telling how long he has been up there! So he came home with me, and I am very glad that he did! Howard gave my Mom a big hug before we left, AND he is wishing her a VERY big HAPPY BIRTHDAY now, because it is her 88th birthday for Teddy Bear Tuesday this week!
The picture was shot during New Years Eve celebrations at Courtney Place, Wellington, New Zealand.
What I really noticed was that all younger people immediately took a photo pose as soon as they discovered me standing in from of them with my camera. They are all Instagram trained. No shoot without the "necessary pose". This happened to me I guess around 10 times that night. Incredible.... :-)
And here you find the story of this photo shoot on the website:

.... early artwork of our daughter Julia... of course... the natural light brown color of the original IKEA wooden box.. is boring for a child :-)
she kept all her little treasures in the drawers :-)
Nadja has lived in this house 12 years the cat door has been there the entire time; not once did she attempt to use it. She could fit always has but she was too scared of tight spaces until senility robbed her of the fear... and us of our sanity. She gets into things like a toddler; worse than a puppy. She could not get enough traction to pull herself fully through the door. The only good thing here is we could pull her out and the bitey end is on the opposite side of the door. Good thing she is cute!
Among the things you can give and still keep are your word, a smile, and a grateful heart. #ZigZiglar
Shot from a flight over Monument valley.
Another 2 photographs from the valley and time are in my landscape set.
Flying over Monument Valley shows you how truly breathtaking the landscape is.

Lost lost found lost a little, found and bit more found.
...To all that message me asking if I am around.
The cloud is so thick....friends that were clients, clients that I treated as friends
a creed, disappoint to the 10th degree make amends
with those friends to catch up on bills for work done.
Then nothing.
Blah.
Friends and clients.....Alas I am here. I am learning a lot about being a business man and about myself. Almost lost the home, then got it back...with sacrafices and new clarity. Losing a relationship I care about with me by me not being me. For those who are patient with me in the past two months, you will be rewarded with a new and improved me and projects. I am going to be more positive. Grumpy spinning with my son and other shocking things that resently happened makes me want to try harder but do it all in less time.
Music is by an inspiring musican, give jack conte props.
While I was walking around the Algoway, this wonderfully happy lady with a hearty laugh and a big smile poked her head out the engine room hatch and let me take her picture. It was coffee time, you see, so she had a moment of her time for me. It made my day. The ship has wintered in the harbor and she was part of a crew getting her ready to set sail again.
The original image, which was metered on the woman, resulted in the highlights being over exposed. I pulled them back in Lightroom but in the process, wound up with a light blue halo around the higher contrast area, i.e. the diagonal chain. I'm going to have to go back to the drawing board on that one but I liked that smile too much not to post it.
you just never know what who you will meet when you go out to dinner on Friday night in Jackson Heights
This is Ms. Columbia and her friends... they were so wonderful and happy. Thank you, Ms. C!

The American alligator is a large crocodilian reptile endemic to the southeastern United States. Adult male American alligators measure 11 to 15 ft in length and can weigh up to 999 lbs. Females are smaller measuring around 9.8 ft. The American alligator inhabits freshwater wetlands such as marshes and cypress swamps from Texas to North Carolina. It is distinguished from the sympatric American crocodile by its broader snout, with overlapping jaws and darker coloration, and is less tolerant of saltwater but more tolerant of cooler climates than the American crocodile, which is found only in tropical climates.
Alligators are apex predators and consume fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Subsequent conservation efforts have allowed their numbers to increase and the species was removed from the endangered species list in 1987. The species is the official state reptile of three states: Florida, Louisiana, and Mississippi U.S.A.

The New York Senate failed us yesterday. It seemed like a promising time for the achievement of gay civil rights in the state of New York, that would set an example for some others that are trying to fight the fight.
A bill that would give same-sex couples the right to marry in New York and guarantee their equal rights was rejected with 38 votes against it versus 24 in favor. What's the saddest in all this? Not just that the 30 Republicans all voted NO (that would be expected), but that 8 Democrats betrayed the LGBT community and many of the promises they had made during election time to help us in exchange of our votes, our support and contributions. Shame on you, Senators!!!
And shame a million times harder on anyone who fights to have the basic rights of other human beings reduced, just because they think themselves "superior" in any way. I say NO!!!! You aren't superior, you are just sad, narrow-minded, religion-controlled part of the mass, like scared flock...
But make no mistake... the LGBT community is not going anywhere. You won't make us disappear, you won't make us stop loving our partners, and fighting for that love to be equally recognized at all levels of justice and social and economic equal benefits.
Because hatred and ignorance may be strong, but hope and love will always prevail.
I know what I talk about. I'm from Spain, a country with a sometimes very castrating Catholic Church who try to mess with the political affairs of a proclaimed laic state. A country with a history of machismo and a decades long dictatorship where homosexuals were imprisoned if not worse. And yet, our president, Jose LuĂs RodrĂguez Zapatero, DID fulfill his electoral promise and fought anyone who got on the way until same-sex marriage was approved by law in Spain. For that, I'll always be proud of him and of belonging to the side of Spain that believes in justice.
Now we ask.... Obama... when is YOUR turn? When will you fulfill YOUR promise of being a champion for the LGBT citizens? Don't fail us. We put all our faith in you.

I spotted Maurice and Sophie during a stroll along the crowded canals. I was so struck by their coolness, that I did not think of photographing them without their shades on. They wear their sunglasses so well, though.
Have a GREAT rest of the weekend!
