I believe that if one always looked at the skies, one would end up with wings. (Gustave Flaubert)

ITALY September 2018

This is the first of a number of postings from a trip we did in September 2018 to Lake Como. These images are from a trip on the Bernina Express from Tirano to St Moritz and this is the first of two postings.

Strathearn or Strath Earn is the strath of the River Earn, in Scotland, extending from Loch Earn in the West to the River Tay in the east. The region formed a traditional province of Scotland, and hence had a mormaer and then an Earl. The province was bounded on the north by Atholl, north west by Breadalbane, south west by Menteith, south east by Fife, and on the east by Perthia.

The sky was big, with just the sound of the wind... Sacaton East Cemetery, Arizona.

Trawling through some old images and have to say, this was one of the best mornings and sunrises with the camera I've had. Such a peaceful morning to enjoy it all alongside the River Thurne.

A litlle Dutch word joke about a beautiful sunset on the island of Schiermonnikoog.

The clouds were simply crazy on that particular day. I am not sure how long this homestead will continue standing, but it is always a joy to go and visit and imagine what life was like back then with that open sky all around.....and not much of anything else.

A perfect morning along the Missouri River, and a timely train to top it all off!

The sun comes up early in the wide open spaces of the west like Wyoming’s Powder River Basin, and at 6:16 a.m. on July 11, 2023, a loaded BNSF coal train descends Logan Hill toward Bill. I know, I know—the train is really tiny—or is the Basin just big?

The big sky and wide beaches Norfolk is known for.
