I'm a nerd.
I like chess. Last week I was so starved for any entertainment whatsoever that I was dying for the hubby to come home and play chess with me.
It actually started when he downloaded a chess game on his Blackberry.
After a few grueling hours playing the computer he wanted someone 'human' he could actually dominate.
Turns out, I played chess incessantly as a kid. (closet-chess-nerd)
Who knew? ;-)
(bet you didn't peg me for that. or I hope not, I should say.......*smirk*)
That said. I returned to work today. After about 2 hours of sorting through my stockpile of emails, and another couple hours pilfering through my freakin giant stack of to-do's.....
Damn. Let's just say I'm glad to be home and I'm never missing two weeks of work again....
Tomorrow is another day.....
Yes, I love my awesome new cheetah t-shirt. I'm standing up; this was a really big castle. Melissa took this one - and she also helped alot on the castle - she's the best.

5/365: I got my biopsy results today and they came back normal!! I'm celebrating by binge watching TV and wearing my favorite kigurumi. Regenerating my soul like the doctor does his face. #bignerd

Just before Christmas, I had the fun opportunity to meet up with Steve, Laura (Steve's better half), Evvvvs, JASE, Dug & Mr. Analog. It was wonderful to see how much Melbourne has changed- in just a space of 6 years! How I miss my hometown.

This dodgy, flat sponge is the first thing I've made with the awesome new Candy Apple Red KitchenAid Mixer that Dug got me for Christmas.
I think the flattness is a result of my crappy oven, because it definitely didn't have anything to do with the way the batter was mixed. And because the new mixer whips cream in about 30 seconds, I just filled the cake with cream and strawberries to make it regular cake size. It's like a giant cream puff.
I'm also beginning to suspect that some of the 'award winning recipes' in my country show cookbook may have been modified by secretive old ladies so they could still claim to make the best cakes around.
This is my entry for brief #3 in the Canon Photo5 Competition.
The playing cards thing is a bit unoriginal, but I just wanted to have a go at photographing smoke, which I've never done before, so I wasn't too fussed about the subject.
Dug was a very good sport about copping a face full of smoke so I could take this. He was also very patient with me nearly blinding him with my new flash while I tried to work out how to use it properly!

Last night I finally did pictures of my brother and sister in law. I hope they turn out well, it was really cloudy :( They are such a cute couple and are going to be great parents.

This one had me pretty stumped too, but I liked the idea of someone about to jump off something high - but not in a depressing, suicidal kind of way. Kind of symbolic of 'Taking the Plunge'. Or something.
In reality, it was just Dug standing on the edge of a trailer about a metre off the ground.
