This was taken in Grand Rapids this past winter 5 days before Christmas. You just have to wonder what they are looking at on their phone.

Hanging out at Biggby's tonight with Terry, Tommy, and The Man.

Set #1

A former Dunkin' Donuts at 4795 Dixie Highway in Waterford Township, Michigan. This barely tampered with store has retained much of its original flare and is a rare example today of a Dunkin' Donuts interior, dating back to 1977 which includes wood-grain, glass counters, barstools, brick and the once "racetrack" framed menu boards.

Dunkin' Donuts moved out of this location several decades ago and the shop had been taken over by a new ownership that had come and gone.

This one's been in limbo to become a Biggby Coffee, slated to open in Fall 2023. As of Spring 2024, it's still listed as "Coming Soon" on the company's website.

jump start my kaleidoscope heart,

love to watch the colors fade,

they may not make sense,

but they sure as hell made me.

I won't go as a passenger, no,

waiting for the road to be laid,

though I may be going down,

I'm taking flame over burning out.

- Sara Bareilles, Uncharted

I was rocking out a lot to this song and this part of it in particular during my road trip. Kind of sums up my attitude towards life right now. And I do love me some Sara Bareilles.

Tomorrow is installation day for our art show at Biggby Coffee in Ann Arbor. Getting really excited to see my work up on the walls. And to check out my friends' art too. Absolutely love that all three of the artists in this showcase were class of 1996 at Huron High School. River Rats, what what! :)

If I knew we were going to be living in this condo for another full year, I think I would do a full year behind this glass cabinet door. If you couldn't tell, I'm slightly obsessed with this series right now. :)

Spent this evening uninstalling my prints from the downtown Biggby Coffee and moving them over and installing them into the Biggby on Washtenaw. I won't be hanging out in the shop now that Art Fair's over, but if you live in the area, you can still stop by to check it out. :) Happy that I sold some prints off the wall during Art Fair, but kinda bummed because the ones that sold are some of my favorites and now - obviously - they aren't up anymore as part of the display. Cest la vie!

Hope you guys had a great weekend. I've got a conference call tomorrow morning but after that, I plan to relax for the rest of the day. It's going to be so amazing. :)

Today was installation day for the Ann Arbor Art Project. Spent the evening hanging my prints in the Biggby Coffee shop next to the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor. Super excited. Got some really great feedback and already made a sale! :) Also got a chance to check out the work of my fellow artists and good lord, they've got some talent! If you live in the area, you should really stop by!

Drowsy emotions

Here, an outpost of caffeine

Subtle hint: noted

Last day of normalcy. Tomorrow at this time I'll be somewhere around Toronto. :) Definitely getting sad about leaving behind the hubs and the manimals. But I think all of my friends who are graciously putting me up on the trip have pets, so that should help some. :)

I will definitely be taking a photo each day on the trip, but it's possible that some may be uploaded a day or two late. I will try to upload regularly, though! And I'm sure I'll have some internet time in the evenings, so I'll try to keep up with you guys!

So excited!!

Also? All of the standout prints I ordered from whcc for my Ann Arbor Art Fair showcase arrived and I am so madly in love with them. If any of you are planning on attending the AA Art Fair (July 20 -23), make sure you stop by Biggby Coffee on Liberty and say hi!

Something simple today (again). Snapped this quickly before I ran out the door to do my installation for yet another art showcase at Biggby Coffee in downtown Ann Arbor. So if you missed my work on the walls during Art Fair, now's your chance to check it out! It'll be up for two weeks, so swing by, grab some coffee, and let me know what you think. :)

Just plain old me. Nothing special.

Uninstalled my prints from Biggby this evening. I'll be showing at the downtown Biggby again the week of August 14-20 and September 11-17. Loving how this Ann Arbor Art Project is expanding! Thanks to Biggby for being so cool!

You sound so innocent

All full of good intent

You swear you know best

But you expect me to

Jump up on board with you

And ride off into your delusional sunset

I'm not the one who's lost

With no direction, oh

But you'll never see

You're so busy makin' maps

With my name on them in all caps

You've got the talkin' down, just not the listening

And who cares if you disagree

You are not me

Who made you king of anything

So you dare tell me who to be

Who died

And made you king of anything

- Sara Bareilles, King of Anything

Look! No glass door! I finally stepped outside of the cabinet today and took a real selfie. Ok, well as real as you consider it when I'm wearing prop glasses. But whatever.

So question for those of you guys who regularly show your work at fairs/shows - do you just keep a set of standouts or prints that are your "display" prints and order new prints when people want to purchase? I was asked to submit my work for a juried show of local Michigan artists up in Traverse City in October and with the shows at Biggby and now this, I'm starting to wonder whether I should just designate these standouts as display prints only so I don't freak so much over protecting the corners/edges when I have to move them around. Thoughts?

Some folks have been fmailing me to ask for more details about my photography showcase during the Ann Arbor Art Fair. So here you go! The official flier. :)

My prints will be up on the walls of the Biggby Coffee shop on Liberty Street (right next to the Michigan Theater) in downtown Ann Arbor as of this Monday morning. I will be personally in the shop selling prints all day Wednesday through Saturday during Art Fair. So if you're local and planning on hitting up Art Fair this year, stop in and say hi! :)
