Sim: Love of Life

This is Tigger. She is about 13 weeks old now. These oversized feet look extra cute on baby squirrels... (Squirrels-2020-7834.jpg)

This Eurasian Coot put on an up close and personal show of his feet. I never realized how cartoonist and colorful they were until I saw them so close and out of the water.

While its shape might look strange to the human eye, the curious configuration of the coot's foot makes the bird adept at getting around both on water and on land, unlike most other waterfowl. Comparable to webbing on a duck's foot, the palmate toes help a coot push through the water. On land, the lobes fold back when the bird lifts its foot, which facilitates walking on a variety of surfaces like mud and grass.

The oversize, bizarre-looking feet have been described by some as reminding them of dinosaurs or aliens.

Woman you got us lost again,, What are you freaking out about? theres no such thing as Bigfoot , We would of heard something that big coming anyway,, what are you looking at?

(Common gallinule juvie)

The Purple Gallinule is one of the most beautiful birds in SW Florida. They are usually very shy running out of the underbrush to grab a seed pod and disappearing. This guy put on quite a show yesterday in Shark Valley. The huge yellow feet are well adapted to allow them to walk across Brasenia shreberi (native water Lilies) and reeds. They are vegetarians.

I just knew it. He's real. And here is proof.

Actually, this is a creation that began as a photo of some trees across the road and then processed in Wombo. Bigfoot was added plus some textures and then another Wombo creation of a moon photo I took laid over as another texture.

For Slider Sunday.

Are you tired of watching all of the Bigfoot hunters in the northwestern USA find nothing? Wait, that is not entirely true. They have found trees broken off above their heads, strange tracks which are not clear enough for positive ID, shelters made of sticks and vegetation, and bones of animals which were eaten (obviously by a Bigfoot). Sometimes they even hear a breaking branch, which causes all the Bigfoot ‘experts’ to pause in their tracks and look around for several minutes. Then they ask, “Did you hear that? Let’s walk toward the sound and set up an infrared camera.” The camera will not get a photo of a Bigfoot. At the end of this three month program, nothing has been found.

If only they had looked in Virginia. That’s right folks! Bigfoot is so prevalent here that signs have to be put up to keep them from getting hit by cars and trucks. They are even starting to come into neighborhoods in search of lasagne and Italian subs. Yep! they love Italian food, but then again who doesn’t.

PETER:

Scout......Scout.....We found Bigfoot. We take him to Anne-Miek. Jodelo....jodelie...jodelehahaha

OLEG:

Would you shut up, Peter. I'm having a hard time. You and Big foot are quite a weight together.

If only my friend Paddy were here. He's much stronger than I am.

PETER:

Hello Bruno!

Thanks for helping me find Bigfoot! When we get home we will celebrate.....at Anne-Miek and Bigfoot.

OLEG:

Not so bold, Peter. If we are not invited, we cannot visit. That's not nice.

A great horned owlet uses its disproportionately large feet and claws to cling to a cottonwood branch. Still laden with fuzz, this owlet seemed to hatch later this year than usual. Note that it has several mosquitoes probing for blood, one visible above its right eye. The photographer can vouch for the presence and abundance of mosquitoes as well.

Never know who you might meet in the Ozark mountains. . .

On the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet on Vancouver Island, BC. Local legend has it that Bigfoot roams these woods, and there have been many claimed sightings, but we didn't have the pleasure of running into him ourselves!

Nigel honestly is one of the biggest cats we have ever had! His feet are enormous, to match the rest of him! Add on a ton of Persian hair and he looks Super Large!

Taken for Happy Caturday! - furry feet or those adorable toe beans

So Happy Caturday!! :)

We were out on a walk with friends through the Smuggler Cove Park area, when we came across this point of interest. A small amount of thinly layered ice, resting close to the edge of a cliff. It was so very blue and attracted the attention of the 4 others, who were also hiking in the same are. It looks like the bottom pad of a foot and perhaps reveals the presence of Bigfoot. Not!

After combining trains 03 and 04 in Lima, a 700+ axle Q561 roars south through Swanders with quite the lash on the head end. Special thanks goes out to Wyatt for letting me borrow his tele lens for this train!

Well, not quite!

"The inclination to believe in the fantastic may strike some as a failure in logic, or gullibility, but it’s really a gift. A world that might have Bigfoot and the Loch Ness Monster is clearly superior to one that definitely does not." -Chris Van Allsburg

More new arrivals in the form of the little purple swamp hens at our local lake this morning! It is that time of year again, and there are many more nests scattered around the little village lakes.

While shooting this wintery scene up on Mount Hood last winter someone or something walked into my shot...This is only about a 1000 feet up from Timberline Lodge. I am ready for Fall and Winter....I hardly got out shooting this summer and what I did was all at night for the most part!

Camera Canon EOS 5D Mark II

Exposure 80 seconds

Aperture f/5.0

Focal Length 17 mm

ISO Speed 1000

Little known fact: the Lucasfilm crew made a blunder in Norway back in the winter of 1979. As we all know, they were doing a fine job shooting their movie but at the same time they were a little too careless with everything they had shipped to the location. Snowspeeders, beasts of the ice planet and even the big AT-AT walkers were frequently left unguarded. And sure enough, eventually one of these giants escaped the area during a snowstorm.

Now, 37 years later, we have a feral AT-AT walker loose up here in the north. It's never been caught, it's a master of disguise. Luckily, this thing is not dangerous but it makes a big mess stepping on parked cars and such.

Thanks a lot Lucasfilm!

I saw this the other day while driving near my house. Someone with a sense of humor made a plywood Bigfoot. I had to get a shot before it is taken down. I did color toning and added texture to make it look vintage in homage to the 1967 Bigfoot video.

For Sliders Sunday
