Cape Buffalo (male). Known as Black Death, the Cape Buffalo is one of the most dangerous creatures in Africa. They lie in the water holes and mud bogs to keep cool and to coat the skin with mud to deflect the heat and biting insects.
This is the place where all three Lions I saw were hiding, after eating Zebra they had killed early morning....this one is coming out of the hideout after a long rest.
I waited almost the whole afternoon.
As if posing for the cover of a lion's GQ, the king sits at his throne, with his lovely maiden nestled by his side. He's the rave of the pride! He sports a diligently and delicately arranged coiffure for a mane. He is the symbol of power. For a moment I wonder, "Is it all in his hair?" I run my fingers through my own thinning locks. "Boy, I sure hope not!" Obviously, being at the apex of the pride has more to it than just a hairdo, right? But, the appearance of virility goes hand in hand with playing the part, and a healthy mane and stealthy body likely means a stronger lion. A stronger lion is able to fight off aggressors and maintain his position at the top. It's not an easy existence. And so, again, I wonder, "How does he maintain such a great head of hair?" We were lucky enough to see an 'old' friend! We saw this lion last year in his prime with cubs - he was pushed out by another male and has now teamed up with another Lion named Jericho!
July 2015 - so sad to hear that this beautiful Lion has been killed by trophy hunters - RIP Cecil!

We took no chances,kept our distance ,as these are mighty powerful & unpredictable ,making them very dangerous creatures,killing around 200 people a year . A strong & robust animal ; they have never been domesticated. Weighing up to 900Kg they are the biggest of the `Big Five`.

At one of the quieter corners of the Kruger Park - bigger than Wales! We'd been driving along for some hours without seeing another human soul when a four wheel drive going the other way flagged us down. You have to imagine an Afrikaans accent here, he said "A quarter of mile on your left, there's a tree. There's a leopard in it!" He was right! It was a fair way off the road and no one in their right mind gets out of a vehicle in most of Kruger, so I was very pleased with the results and my (then) new camera! If he'd not passed the information, I'd never have seen it! Whoever you were, sir, I thank you!
An elephant calf and its mother both feed during an early evening game drive in the Mara North Conservancy.
Seeing the bond between mother and calf is a fantastic experience.

One of the cubs from the Mara North Conservancy's resident Cheli Pride sits satisfied, looking into the distance, after a fantastic afternoon sighting of the pride members gorging themselves on a zebra kill nearby.
On our second day in the Mara North Conservancy, after shooting an acacia tree against a dramatic morning sky, we soon encountered the Cheli Pride again, where I shot a few images of this cute cub.
Lazy cats,this was early morning in the Mara with the bright sun showing up with bright colors in the field where these four young males were lazing in wet grass.Within minutes they walked away elsewhere.
