"Going Wild"
Some of you knew I spend some time away from the office. It was always a BIG dream of mine to visit Africa and see the Big Five close up. So here we go, my dream came true. We flew down to South Africa and spend a few of days in & near Krueger National Park. Just two words to describe it: Amazing & Beautiful. I was speechless as the majestic Elephants & elegant Giraffes walked next to our jeep, Rhinos and Buffalos grazing just 3m away. From there we flew down to Cape Town, a very interesting city with stunning costal roads and amazing views on every corner.
I will upload some photos of our trip very soon, but for know here is one of the Elephants at Krueger NP. Thought it is perfect as I spend the day at Woburn Safari Park to meet and photograph the Elephants. Can't get enough of them

Amur Leopard Cub hiding way back up in the cave. Three months old a few days back. I missed the closer encounter by minutes. Maybe next time! Sorry about the bad reflections off the glass. At Brookfield Zoo.

African Lion (male). We encountered this young male lion just after he had been in a battle with another lion. There is still blood on his muzzle and chin, and his right ear has been mauled. Our guide Kenny said that he had probably been in a fight over females and that since he was alone, he had lost the fight.
This guy was lying in the shade near Rietfontein Waterhole in Etosha when a trroop of elephants came down to the waterhole for a drink and made it clear he wasn't welcome. He wasn't pleased and walked off grumbling to himself

Game Drive in open jeep.
A large and powerful bovine, the African Buffalo reaches shoulder heights of up to 1.5 m and a mass of 750 kg. Both sexes have horns, those of the bulls are characterised by a heavy boss and upward curved horns.
Mainly preyed upon by lions. When a herd member is attacked, others will rush to its defence. Collectively a number of buffalo are more than capable to stave off an attack by an entire pride of lions. A wounded buffalo bull is regarded as most dangerous by hunters, and is one of the reasons why this animal is included into the so-called 'big five'. This trait is the origin of many hunting adventures, myths and legends.
Following a sundowner at one of our favourite watering pans, we were headed south-west to camp, when we encountered some elephants grazing in lush vegetation.
The sun had set, and the sky was highlighted by high wispy clouds and the pastel colours of dusk as the light level faded during the onset of night.
We stopped to capture some environmental portraits of these peaceful elephants grazing at a peaceful place at a peaceful time, which is my favourite time of the day.
An hour after a magnificent sunrise in the Maasai Mara, we encountered a breeding herd of elephants.
Here, two of the larger adults are engaging in some trunk wrestling during playtime.
Makepisi is a male leopard who inhabits the Timbavati region of Greater Kruger National Park in South Africa.
On an afternoon/evening game drive on our first day here, we were lucky enough to find him resting on a termite mound a mere 10 metres from our vehicle.
I also shot video footage of Makepisi.
The night after we had seen the leopard in the previous shots, we came across this magnificent beast. We watched him stalk a springbok for almost an hour. He was SO close when the springbok bolted. Tired and thirsty from his unsuccesful hunt we watched him head out of the thick undergrowth onto the road for a drink. I knew I'd nailed a reflection shot and couldn't have been more thrilled!! It is unbelievably rare to see a leopard in the wild, let alone two. The pic of him panting below is some indication of how exhausted he was post-hunt...Please view on black
