African Elephant. I wonder if he's thinking, "Oh damn, yet another bunch of annoying tourists and their cameras!"
After almost 24 hours of searching in Kruger National Park, I was finally rewarded with this breathtaking moment—a majestic leopard resting beside the road. The dedication and patience paid off! There's nothing quite like witnessing such a powerful and graceful creature in the wild. This experience is a true reminder of the beauty of nature and why I love exploring the African wilderness!

Lion cubs sit atop a rock waiting for their mother to return from hunting. They can hear her in the distance and as a result have come out from hiding. They scan the landscape to see if they can make her out in the distance. They don't realize that she has already made it to the outcropping but on the opposite side. Cubs are vulnerable at this age and generally learn to stay put until their mother arrives to protect them.
Taken at Newbrownii Watering Hole in Etosha National Park. It was very interesting to watch the impact the lioness being there had on the other animals - a long "queue" formed with very few animals prepared to risk a drink!

On our second evening in the Mara, we encountered two magnificent male lions -- brothers in the Cheli Pride.
Here, one of the Cheli brothers heads back toward us to join his brother for some bonding and lazing before later preparing for the serious business of being a male lion in the Mara wilderness.

It is early morning at the base of Ngorongoro crater, in the heart of Tanzania's wildlife conservation area. An injured cape buffalo is accompanied by two bulls, who attempt to keep a lion pride away. Cape buffalo are one of Africa's most dangerous animals. They are capable of injuring and even killing a full grown lion. Lions are rarely reckless. They know that time will weaken the injured animal and make it easier to move in for the kill. It can be a difficult thing to watch, but it is nature's way. The circle of life continues. #BigCats #Bringit #Canon
Late during an afternoon game drive, as the sun was low in the sky and the surroundings were vivid in colour, a breeding herd of elephants came to the water to drink.
Here, I captured one of the youngsters enjoying a drink.
Similar, in a way, to the unified consciousness that lions sometimes seem to represent, these four beauties approach, four abreast, like a cold front moving in across the plains. Female lions are the hunters for their pride. Males will occasionally hunt also, but most of the hunting is done by the females of the pride. They do so with cold calculating accuracy, as if they belonged to a single consciousness.
