Basically, Shelby has converted the Mustang fastback coupe into a road-going version of a NASCAR stocker.

The ninth season with this bike is about to begin. Still in splendor after all the years, despite a couple of serious collisions behind. All the modifications I've made myself. Safe driving for all motorcyclists. And a safe journey.

With strong rumours that Harley Davidson will be ceasing production of their famous plodding petrol engines and start building green e-bikes I was interested to overhear some of their touring design engineers with weird beards discussing how they could still retain their iconic styling, incorporating big bore cylinders. It should have been obvious earlier but it seems they are on the cusp of developing an engine that uses environmentally friendly lithium ion battery technology to heat water and create steam to drive the big Harley cylinders instead of using petrol. This will have health benefits for traditional Harley fans, too, who will now have to stop regularly to take on water instead of beer. About every one and a half miles.

A nice Series 2 car. 5.8-litre Big Bore engine with various X-pack upgrades, converted to LHD by Oselli before being shipped to the US in 2016. In the Autosport Designs basement workshop/storage, a very nice place indeed. Rolls Royce Midnight Blue metallic with Magnolia leather interior (piped Dark Blue). The top is a Mohair PoW-spec one, fitted when the steering column was shifted.

The Heritage Rough Rider 45LC handles well and has a nice fit and finish for the price. I got the 5.5 inch model with the old west distressed finish. The action is smooth and is well balanced. The grips are high quality cocabolo wood. It's a good choice for cowboy action shooting, not too expensive and a well made pistol. It also comes in a blued or stainless steel finish.

The Belt and Holster was made by Classic Old West Styles (COWS) from El Paso Texas, it came to me from the actor and cowboy action shooter who played Butch Cassidy on Pax TV's episode of Butch Cassidy Smartest or Luckiest Outlaw" from the series Encounters With The Unexplained.

I own a few 45 six-shooters, Colts and Cimarrons mostly. I saw the new Heritage 45 at a local gun shop with what's called a distressed finish and liked its rugged looks, (its also available in a nice blued version as well as a stainless steel version) I asked to look at it closer.. it felt like a sixgun should, and decided to buy one. In my opinion, it may not be quite as pretty as some of the more expensive pistols, but is very durable and accurate out of the box.. it looks and feels right and is very close representation of the old Colt that won the west.

Heritage Manufacturing Big Bore Rough Rider .45 Colt. The Rough Rider offered a satisfying traditional look and shot sub-2-inch groups at 25 yards. In my opinion the Rough Rider is a bargain for the budding Cowboy Action shooter or anyone who wants a big-bullet single-action revolver at a really decent price.

Trivia: Have you ever wondered why the 6-71 and 8-71 blowers used on hot rods have those weird names? Okay, probably not. But I'll tell you anyway. The 6-71, for example, is a Detroit Diesel truck engine. Originally the 6-71 blower (supercharger) was developed to run the Detroit Diesel 6-71 two-stroke engine. 6-71 means that the engine is an inline, six-cylinder engine with cylinders that displace 71 cubic inches (426 inches total). The 8-71 is the same except that it's an inline eight-cylinder engine (568 inches total). The 71 series engines also come in a V configuration, but the 6v-71 and 8v-71 blowers are not suitable for hot rod use. Detroit Diesel also makes 53 and 92 series engines, but their blowers were never used for automotive performance.

Though capable of 0-60 mph times of 2.8 seconds out-of-the-box, the FJ quickly became legendary as The King of Roll-On Power. Discontinued in 1993, the original FJ still enjoys legions of enthusiasts.

Thanks!

We were lucky enough to be able to visit two great motorcycle museums on our trip. We went to the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Museum (this one) in Pickerington, Ohio, and the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, Iowa.

1963-77 100" H-D Knucklehead

This bike is often described Arlen Ness's first bike. In the old days, Ness rebuilt the same bike year after year because it's what he could afford. He bought this as a slightly used Knucklehead in 1963 and rebuilt and repainted it every year until 1977 when it took the form seen here. Over the years it had Sportster tanks and Tombstone tanks, ape hangers and drag bars, was painted purple, yellow, and blue, and had a 1960s-style picture of his wife painted on it for several years.

Specifications

S&S Flywheels

S&S Big-bore barrels

Magnuson Supercharger

Twin Weber carburetors

Sportster transmission mounted to Knucklehead motor

But when you have big parts to turn, that’s a good thing. This is the A2-11 spindle nose of a Haas ST-40 lathe with Big Bore option. The ST-40 Big Bore provides a 7" spindle bore (without rotating union and workholding), and accepts an 18" chuck. In the background are a pair of A2-8 spindle noses for standard ST-40s.

The massive ∅8.50" through-bore of the Haas TL-3B Big-Bore Toolroom Lathe is designed to accommodate the large tubing and shafts found in the oilfield. The TL-3B is equipped with front and rear A2-15 spindle noses that accept manual chucks up to 25". The machine also includes the Haas Intuitive Programming System, which has proprietary thread-repair and re-threading cycles to tackle the type of jobs common in oilfield work.

This bike has a Magnuson Supercharger driven by a belt off the crankshaft. The Magnuson is a Roots-type supercharger.

The Roots-type supercharger is nothing new. In fact, it's about 150 years old. The Roots-type supercharger is named after Philander and Francis Marion Roots of Connersville, Indiana, who first patented the basic design in 1860 as an air pump for use in blast furnaces and other industrial applications. In 1900, Gottlieb Daimler included a Roots-type supercharger in a patented engine design, making the Roots-type supercharger the oldest of the various designs now available.

Trivia: These days Magnuson makes the TRD (Toyota Racing Development) superchargers seen on Toyota Tacoma trucks. Unfortunately, my Tacoma doesn't have one. The supercharger is rated to increase power from 190 HP to 251 HP (a 32% increase).

I know I sniveled about videos on Flickr and then watched some that some of my contacts had put up and I enjoyed them. This is likely the only one I'll load so I hope you enjoy it! That's me firing it, be sure and notice the fire ring a few feet in front of the muzzle. This thing has some POWER! Yaaargh!
