I'm taking time out of the Norfolk set to show the photos I took during a visit to Chatsworth House Gardens to see this year's "Beyond Limits" set of sculptures. It is well worth a visit and if you're rich and fancy one then contact Sotheby's.

Contemporary Terracotta Warriors by Yue Minju, one of the rising stars of the Chinese contemporary art scene. The 25 bronze figures look perfect in the setting of the Chatsworth cascade, like a small scouting party separated from their 8000 terracotta brothers in arms back in China.

A good photo as statue was in a chained off area and I used the zoom and then cropped, but its a very disconcerting piece of work...

Saint Bartholomew, Exquisite Pain is a bronze figure standing two and a half metres tall was completed in August 2006, especially for Beyond Limits, which is the annual Chatsworth Sculpture exhibition.
"Hirst's inspiration for the piece "comes from memories I have of woodcuts and etchings I remember seeing when I was younger. As Saint Bartholomew was a martyr who was skinned alive, he was often used by artists and doctors to show the anatomy of the human body and this is also what I've done. He holds his own skin over his arm and he holds a scalpel and a pair of scissors in his hands so that his exposure and pain are seemingly self-inflicted.""
Its interesting to search for the other shots of the scuplture in Chatsworth as it seems to have been moved round the grounds several times, and prehaps the current position is pending a move elsewhere.

This young woman was absorbed with some subject on her ipad and I'm not sure whether it was the sculptures or not.

I think this was my fave sculpture of the day Eve by Richard Hudson. I really liked the reflections though it does make me look like I have a really abnormal leg!

All the glorious art made me look for some photos other than the sculptures that said something about Chatsworth.
