"Once we decide to look at ourselves, we may experience ourselves as wretched, in the most profoundly degrading situations, or some of us may have brilliant and good situations happening, too. Something worthwhile, wholesome and healthy exists in us. But don't jump the gun and try to get ahold of that first. First, let's look. If we actually face ourselves properly and fully, we will find that something else exists there, something beyond facing ourselves."

On the weekend of November 20-21, 2010, I was invited to photograph the new Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas prior to their opening December 15, 2010 in Las Vegas NV.
This set of images represents my efforts that weekend to showcase this newest resort property opening up on the Las Vegas Strip. Thanks to David Scherer from The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas for showing me around, to Miiko Mentz at Katalyst Films for helping to arrange the shoot, and to my wife for modeling for me.

The Local Alternatives for Global Development: Rediscovering Libraries event took place on October 3, 2012 in Washington, D.C. The event brought together an estimated 400 practitioners, funding organizations, and innovators from around the world to have a conversation about alternative development approaches and to build partnerships.
The event kicked-off with a special roundtable discussion between USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah and former Chilean president Ricardo Lagos. Other featured speakers included technology innovator Esther Dyson and representatives from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
