My five letter word is BEVEL.
Google's definition of bevel;
noun - A slope from the horizontal or vertical in carpentry and stonework; a sloping surface or edge. "A very small 45° bevel is ground on the top surface"
A corner bevel is an important feature on any machined part. It can be there for a variety of reasons. Rarely did I ever make a part that required a sharp corner. This little group of parts easily fits inside a 75mm square. Thanks to anyone that stops to view my stuff, click a star or leave a comment. HMM!
I have long loved the art of photography. It is fun to experiment with lines, colors, and shapes in a simple shot. The photo above is the result of playing with my shots.
As a child, I remember the large department stores having mirrors on columns throughout the dress display area. While Mom shopped, I entertained myself by lining up the reflected beveled edges of the mirror display. It looked like a long tunnel, which seem to go on forever. It was much like an “Echo”!
Another way to describe the feel, take a mirror and hold it in front of another mirror. Position the mirror in your hand till you get the reflection that bounces back and forth to create the ‘tunnel”. Hope you enjoy!
This photo was taken on Black Point Drive at Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, Florida. The little blue heron is searching for food. Very much liked the shadow on the body, as it looked like a heart.
After trying to capture the sunset, I turned to face our front glass doors. The beveled glass and reflected hues from outside blurred the sunset and made me feel a little happier.
I hope you like it, too. Thanks for looking.

Hypodermic needle.
Reversed Nikkor EL50 lens, PB-6 bellows. Zerene stacker - 70 subimages at approximately 60µ intervals.
The needle was inserted through a black foam board - the Luer-lock hub end was then illuminated by a speedlight and snoot, with light spilling out the bevel end. (this resulted in a pure oval of light in the bevel...) A small amount of fill light was added from the front right to clarify the subject.
The initial magnification was 3.5x, and the image was cropped. The bevel is 5mm in length - the image is 6mm (0.24 inches) in greatest dimension.
One afternoon last month in London I went to the docklands looking for something architectural to shoot, but in infrared. This building stood out.

Billings Arcade—made of Maine granite and local stone—is part of the original driveway and portico of the Cornelius Kingsley Garrison Billings Estate, which was completed during 1905-1907. The estate's 1,600-foot-long brick roadway was paved with special bricks whose beveled edges gave horses traction when climbing the incline of this carriage road. Suspect this was in 'Explore' July 4th.2017 (Due to number of views it accrued - probably was bumped off later in the day).
I need to work on rephotographing some items, which isn't all that easy with all the background junk around here. The center of this piece glowed due to the sun's reflection off the car's windshield.

NB The three, vertical cylinders are what make a Shay engine a Shay engine. They give the low gearing — driving through the bevel gears — required for Vancouver Island logging locations.
