UPDATE: This is a previously a former Alpha Beta but it became Hughes later on before becoming Ralphs.
Another former Hughes which opened in the late 1970's. Ralphs previously operated a store across the street that also opened in the late 1960's, however, when Ralphs acquired Hughes, the divested their namesake store and rebannered the Hughes they acquired as Ralphs.
The old Ralphs was initially divested to an independent, which then sold the store to the family that operated Hughes, which started a new independent chain called How's Markets after losing Hughes to Ralphs. This effectively meant for a while that there was a swap in ownership between the two stores in the early 2000's. This was short lived as the family struggled with the new Hows chain with intense competition, and Hows shuttered their Canyon Country store in 2004.
In late 2025, rumors circulated that Kroger would be shuttering a Food 4 Less across the street which opened in 1995 helping revitalize a sleepy strip mall. It was also announced Ralphs would relocated into the Food 4 Less space after some renovations, vacating the former Hughes space. Rumors were confirmed true the following month in 2026, with the Food 4 Less closing in February. It is unclear when Ralphs will reopen in what will be the former Food 4 Less, or what will happen with the existing Ralphs.
