One of the oldest ore jennies in this deadline: DMIR #28401, a Class U24 ore jenny built in 1948 by American Car & Foundry and, until recently, used in BFT service bertween Minntac and Two Harbors. This ore jennie has been in service for almost eight decades and predates the beginning of taconite production in the Iron Range.

O pelourinho é um monumento manuelino ,contemporâneo do foral novo. O fuste é facetado , sobre quatro degraus com colunelos que formam a gaiola . A cimeira é cónica e remata com uma esfera armilar . Considerado Monumento Nacional .
A igreja de São Pedro, em estilo românico ,foi do padroado real no sec.XVI. Na porta principal , encontra-se o brasão , duas chaves cruzadas sobrepujadas por uma tiara, simbolizando São Pedro , o orago .Na parede sul encontra-se o mausoléu mandado erigir em 1641, túmulo do sapateiro e profeta Bandarra.
The pillory is a Manueline style monument . the shaft is faceted standing on four steps ands its finished with five smallcolumns which form the cage . The top is conical and has an Armilar Sphere on the top . It is classified National Monument .
Sainy Peter's is a Roman style church and was attended by royalty durind the XVIth century. The coat of arms can be found bertween the main door and the window on the façade , consisting of two crossed keys with a tiara above them , symbolizing Saint Peter , its patron . On the south wall a mausoleum can be found ; it was ordered to be built in 1641 , it is the tomd of the shoemaker and prophet Bandarra .
As electrification on the 'Chase Line' bertween Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley nears completion and London Midland have lost their franchise, I'm uploading some shots that won't be possible for very much longer. Here London Midland unit 170506 waits at Landywood, en route to Rugeley.

This photo was also clearly taken at Fort William (the Police OFFICE and Police STATION signs are a real give-away) again at an Annual Inspection.
The manpower on parade indicates war-time. At least one Sergeant has "SC" (Special Constable) on his collar, and several of the Constables look to be either Specials or War Reserves.

Sergeant William Boa is front standing row, far left, and he was promoted Inspector in September 1945 on retirement of Inspector Angus MacDonald (seated, far left).
The clincher though is the presence of a female officer, who I think is Inverness-shire's first "true" female officer, Joan Steedman who moved from the WAPC (Women's Auxiliary Police Corps) to being a regular police officer (full police powers) in 1941.She left the service in 1944.
I suspect that the purpose of this photograph was to commemorate Mr Kinnear's first visit, so I would make an educated guess at 1943.
The other uniformed gent in the front row is Chief Constable William Fraser (Bertween Insp MacDonald and Mr Dudgeon). The other two men in civilian clothing may well be the Chairman of the Police Authority and the Sheriff (Judge).

The common denominator in this series of photographs is WILLIAM BOA, who served in Inverness-shire Constabulary from 1914 to 1948.
William had worked as a Ghillie (Gaelic word for “boy – in this context it means Fishing or Hunting Assistant) in his native Kintail area of Wester Ross-shire before, aged 19 and a half, joining the Inverness-shire Constabulary on 16th October 1914.
After six months at Force HQ in Inverness he was posted to Portree on the Isle of Skye in April 1915. Still a single man, he was posted to Invergarry (south of Fort Augustus in the Great Glen) in August 1916.
On 5th April 1917 he was called for War Service, joining the Lovat’s Scouts with which regiment he served until 14th February 1919.

Upon his return to the force, he was posted to Lochmaddy on the Island of North Uist, moving to Lochboisdale on South Uist four months later.
It would be during this time in the Islands that he married a local girl, and in June 1923 they moved to the fishing port (and ferry port) of Mallaig on the West Coast of the Mainland.
Six years later he was transferred again, to Carrbridge, south of Inverness.
On 31st August 1936 he was promoted to Sergeant and transferred to the Island of Barra, southernmost of the Outer Hebrides.
In March 1939 he moved yet again, this time to Fort William, the largest settlement in Inverness-shire (the Burgh of Inverness was a separate entity outwith the County, and had its own police force).
On 28th September 1945 he was promoted to Inspector, serving briefly at Fort William before returning the following month to Lochmaddy, then HQ of the Long Island Division. There had been an Inspector in charge there since the force was created in 1940, and he was the 9th officer of that rank to be in charge there since the force was re-constituted in 1858.
He would also be the last, as the post was downgraded to Sergeant after he left. He made his final move, back to Fort William as officer in charge of Lochaber Division, in April 1946.
Inspector Boa retired on pension on 30th June 1948, aged 53, having clocked up 31 years police service (excluding his time in the Army)

Another of HMAS SYDNEY [III]'s social engagements in 1955 was its participation in a Far West Children's Health program, a NSW non-government initiative that brought children from the outback reaches of the State to visit Garden Island. Now designated Royal Far West and supported in some wayt we understand by Legacy, the visit was a part of an educational and health program for rural and isolated NSW children that has been going for 85 years and continues today.

Minister of Culture: Well this is a tricky question. Essentially it is because in the Muslim religion we look up to our women. Like delicate flowers, with respect and reverence. We would not want their public displays to cause them any harm from men who are not quite right in the mind... Abbot: Well I think you all should make the men who are not quite right in the head fix their own problems and allow women to do whatever the hell they want!!!
Minister of Culture looks down... this is a woman SAYING this to him. But it is LAW. So... Ed Hale comments, Sir if I might, personally I like the way the women are here. From an outsider's perspective one can really feel the respect and reverence... It is sort of refreshing comapred to the US.
Dreyfuss looks at me as if i am the world's biggest pansy. But the truth is probably somewhere in bertween. Women deserve equality in Iran. That is for sure. But there is something to be said about their respectful nature there that we have lost in the West, especially the States.
