Another photo from the farm, taken a year ago today.

==========

This photograph is an outtake from my 2021 photo-a-day project, 365^4.

365^4 project discussion for this date is here.

Lane and Edna's house, under construction on August 15, 2004.

Scanned a few pix today; this is by far the best, though it's a bit noisy. Photo taken with a Minolta Point-n-Shoot; scanned from a Kodak Gold 800 negative.

Joan's family spent last November 29 beginning to sort out their Mom's estate. First everyone met with Thelma's lawyer; then we gathered at the farm, hunted down a couple more papers, and chatted a bit about stuff.

I took two versions of this photo as we prepared to head home. This version's the better one, so I'm repeating it.

Other photos taken on 11/29/2021: I took six not-very-good pix of our cat, Luke, asleep in my lap.

Another photo from yesterday's visit to the farm.

I photograph this barn on the Bennett family farm pretty regularly. Some of that's opportunity, since many members of Joan's family still live on the farm. Some of that's because the barn's a fine photo subject.

Photo taken in October of 2021.

Out at the farm.

We spent the afternoon at the farm.

And birds on a wire.

Joan's family farm.

We spent Easter at the farm, where we were entertained by the cats.

Explored! #386 on 5/29/2016 (though no longer in the day's top 500). Thanks!

And a bunch of other trees....

A year ago at the farm I got this unexpected photo of one of the cats on the fence that protects David's chicken coop.

I can't imagine Dave would have approved of the cat's pose. But I rather like the photo.

That's sister Edna's place across the field, by the way.

At the Bennett family farm, Thanksgiving of 2009.

A tone poem.

I posted a color version of this photo on the day I took it; here it is in shades of grey. MANY shades of grey.

It was Thursday again, so last May 13 we visited Joan's mom while brother David headed off to meet with the men's group at his church.

As usual I wandered outside for a bit. I found that Dave had some colorful flowers ready to plant. I also photographed a broken-down tree, played a depth-of-field game with some tall grass, tried to capture some badly-lit decorations on the porch, and experimented some with the wire fence that defines the farm's western edge. Despite my best efforts I couldn't find anything interesting to do with some clothes pins.

And I managed to take a few photos of the farm's old barn. Of course.

We made a stop at the farm yesterday.

The recent winds haven't been good for the barn.

We visited Joan's mom yesterday evening, and I caught this photo as we were leaviing. Olive Township in Clinton County, Michigan. I certainly wish I'd had a better view, but this will do.

Joan's family gathered at the farm last December 12. While they were sorting through old photographs and jewelry and quilts and tableware and memories, I was taking new photographs.

The barn at the farm's not long for this world.

Also behind Lane's and behind Pam's; most of my sisters-in-law live there.

Good old Arty found this photo out behind the house.

At the farm, October of 2005. The granary's long gone, now.

A year ago today we stopped at the farm to say hello to Dave and get a couple things done. I took the camera, of course. While I photographed other things but the best pix involved peaches.

Mums in Joan's mother's garden, September of 2019.

Half of Joan's family lives at the farm....

A year ago we dropped in on Pam, who was beginning to convert Edna's garage into a small apartment. Pammy and Joan chatted on the deck. I took pix. Sophie demanded attention. We said hello to Edna. We also went next door and visited Dave.

And finally I got a good picture of a combine harvester. I'd been trying for several weeks.

At the Bennett farm a couple decades ago. Photo by Joan, taken with a point-n-shoot and scanned from a Kodak Gold 400 negative.

Out back at Joan's family's farm in Olive Township. Photo taken May of 2015.

At the Bennett farm.

At the Bennett farm. That's David's back; there's asparagus hiding in that tall grass.

Joan's mom passed away last night at Prestige Way, an assisted living center. Most of the family spent yesterday in her room.

This photo's from Thanksgiving a couple years ago. Until she moved to a nursing home, then to Prestige Way, Smudge had been her constant companion for about a decade.

We visited Joan's mom at the farm this afternoon.
