Double-crested Cormorant, Nannopterum auritum, welcoming the winter Sun. The blue reflection comes from an educational kiosk on the far shore in Wetlands Park at Riverstone.
All About Birds says, “Cormorants often stand in the sun with their wings spread out to dry. They have less preen oil than other birds, so their feathers can get soaked rather than shedding water like a duck’s. Though this seems like a problem for a bird that spends its life in water, wet feathers probably make it easier for cormorants to hunt underwater with agility and speed.”

BENEDICTION
The gentle rain that melts away all doubts
all fears and judgements that are better to cast out
so that inside us we can rest our weary minds
allow our hearts to beat a rhythmic kind
of tune and dance until our heart's are quite content
allow in grace and benediction meant
to soothe our souls; allow our aching limbs to rest
acceptance is a blessing; let it do it's best
to heal us and to warm the chillness from our bones
so only light can enter and radiate outwards and atone
for all those times when we were not quite perfect
let slip away those things and start again
newborn; rejuvenated; without pain
focus clearly on the point of light and then refrain
from ever letting darkness overshadow what you know is true
that all things come to pass and so will I and so will you
right or wrong, so many petty little things
prevent us from being joyous; clip our fragile wings
soften; softer; soft and peaceful now
inhale; exhale a lighter pale of purest, white as snow
the smallest problems that we each allowed

It is sunny here today, but the wind is cold, yesterday, we experienced a brief snow flurry
which left our local mountains dusted with icing sugar, a beautiful sight to behold.
Our kitchen only receives sunshine in the afternoon and I consider myself lucky if
I am present for the benediction so I can bask with the flowers.

The first full day of Spring 2018 saw snow on the Cumberland Plateau in Tennessee. This barnyard on Bon Air Mountain East of Sparta was a testament to the beauty of the Volunteer State. It is a soft and silent benediction for my love.

Petits et grands animaux sont accueillis avec leurs propriétaires pour être bénis lors de cette cérémonie un peu particulière. C'est également l'occasion de voir toutes sortes d'animaux défiler dans cette magnifique cathédrale.
Every year, the cathedral of St John the Divine in Harlem hosts a special celebration in honor of the patron saint of animals, Saint Francis of Assisi: the Blessing of the Animals. Big and small animals are welcomed with their owners to be blessed during this special ceremony. It's also a chance to see all kinds of animals parading through this magnificent cathedral.
Ogni anno, la Cattedrale "St John the Divine" che si trova ad Harlem ospita una celebrazione speciale in onore del patrono degli animali, San Francesco d'Assisi: la benedizione degli animali. Gli animali di piccola e grande taglia vengono accolti insieme ai loro padroni per essere benedetti durante questa cerimonia piuttosto aneddota. È anche l'occasione per vedere sfilare animali di ogni tipo in questa magnifica Cattedrale.

Maria verkündet dem Patrizier Johannes, dass er den erwünschten Sohn habe werde, wenn er die Baukosten für ihre Kirche übernimmt, würde, die dort entstehen solle, wo es im August schneien werde..
Johannes berichtet dem Papst davon.
Es schneit tatsächlich im August und Papst Liberius zeichnet den Grundriss der Kirche in den am Morgen des 5. August 358 frisch gefallenen Schnee.
