For the theme - Being human

Howdy, folks. The weather around here is nice enough to get my sun on, but I gotta protect my fair skin. I'm giving the photographer a bit of the stink eye because I'm still working off my winter layer. Pretty soon, though, I'll be summer sleek and the brown behind me will be nice and green.

A tribute to all the heroes who lost their lives to inhumanity.....

I call this shot "Glasgow Girls" because these mannequins were in a shop window in Buchanan Street, Glasgow. Thinking how ridiculous their proportions were (eg their fingers), I took a couple of snaps of these ladies through the glass. Thanks to the wonders of photoshop, I've now reimagined it where it's the other way around, and they are outside in the Glasgow rain and we're err the dummies on display.

7th April

I had a fantastic flight in a hot air balloon today. Lots of pictures to post, but don't hold your breath, as currently I'm still sorting pics on my hard drive from February!

The wind direction was on our side, as the balloon took us over the city, before finally dumping us, unceremoniously, upside down in a field at the Cadbury's factory in Keynsham.

This photo was taken as we flew over the houses in Totterdown.

Floating high up above the city, sipping bubbly, whilst watching the sun start to set, is certainly something I could get used to. Already planning a sunrise flight!

The weather is awful and Evie decided to relax on the sofa & watch tv, with a drink & a biscuit on the sofa arm. She can't quite decide what to watch however, 'dogs behaving badly' - maybe Olive will be on lol or 'Police camera action' - she likes to howl at the sirens!

Taken for this months theme, 'Being human' :)

I believe having a pet in a family is a blessing. The best feeling pets give you is that you feel like a parent and that is one of the best feelings.

This was my tune when I was editing this photo.

The Teleidoscope - Week #21- Stranded.

note:

Inspired by the tv show... Being Human. I loved Mitchell's character as a vampire; his weakness within his strength and his hidden struggle to live with his regrets, forever.

Apart from the fiction of vampires and werewolves... I can sometimes relate to the characters and their stories.

After the cement factory (and don't worry, I have more shots from there, although those are mostly 35mm, which has yet to be developed), Jon also showed me an incredible place called Mare Island. Mare Island, or more specifically Mare Island Naval Shipyard, is just across the Napa River from Vallejo. For those who don't know, Vallejo is northeast of San Francisco, about 25 miles.

I have lived in the Bay Area for a combined total of about 9 or 10 years and I had no idea this place existed. It was, at one time, the premier US west coast submarine port, and during WWII controlled the Bay Area's shipbuilding efforts.

You know what that means? It means adorable cities like Vallejo and Richmond, which are now in sad states, with high rates of crime and unemployment, were once hugely prosperous and bustling. It means I need to start exploring and learning more history and crawling through more open windows.

Yes, more photos to come.

I think a dystopian answer is the insight that Native American artist Fritz Sholder provides. If he is saying that we are destined to be angels, well, this is a creepy kind of angel. It’s not exactly a man either. I don't think the artist has much faith that we will hug close to our humanity.

That globe also looks a little trashed.

For those who lose their path now in their passion to conquer the outward bounds, this metaphoric image may not be so far off for them.

Hey, we may lose our humanity in our push to be victorious but look how much we gain.

The Being Human Foundation is a Mumbai-based charity that works in education and healthcare for the underprivileged in India.

Thiss is Pierre. I met him back in 2008, as he was feeding the pigeons in front of Notre Dame Cathedral. A lot of people were staring at him horrified, while others were taking pictures amused.

Have you ever asked yourself how do you feel before a journey ? What are you going to bring with you ? What will you leave behind ? To whom are you saying goodbye ? Who do you expect to meet and get to know in your travel destination ? Shall you feel anxious, happy, curious, worried, indifferent ? Try to portrait yourself before a journey.
