This picture was taken on our vacation in the summer. (2011) We were at the check in place becuase my dad wanted to get a pass to drive on the beach with his jeep!<3
and for some reason this seemed reallyyy sweet to me to look at! it was breath -taking! and of course being the fairy-tale- ending girl that i am.. i wanted to take a picture of it becuase i kept thinking about my future husband.. and i kept thinking about when we grow older how ill love to sit on our deck in rocking chairs just sipping our tea or coffee..<3 *smiles* how cute would that be?! I cant wait to be with my future husband.. Im waiting for him.. and being verrry paitent in the mean-time<3
oh and yesterday was fun my mom, miranda, chelsea and I all went to the mall to spend birthday money! (well my mom went birthday shopping for me while chelsea spent her birthday money from a relitive of ours) I know what my parents got me for my birthday ..- kinda of.. i know they got me stuff for my new place when i turn 18... but i dont know what:p its okay i love surprises! what fun is it to know what you got for your birthday?! with that being said.. I /do/ however /know/ one thing i got for my birthday! I got a orangeish reddish columbia sweatshirt! its soooo soft! i love it!(=
so today, i went to earth science and now im in algebra 2:p I hate math! blleh! anyway im not doing much today probally just taking a walk down to see my kiddos at my old daycare*smiles* i dont know.. what are you guys up too today? any adventures? any cool places?

I was so inspired by the holidays that I wanted to share the love around the world. Vic is demonstrating a holiday tradition here in Detroit. Each year, in order for the Yule log to burn all night, the solstice night stalker must go out deep into the shopping malls and must cut, slash, and burn anyone caught buying the Justin Beiber or John Tesh xmas albums. Once done with the torture, he will leave a mix cassette tape with songs from Anthrax and Iron Maiden in order to boost spirits and raise awareness. I just love this time of the year!
In 1973 a U.S. Navy DC plane ran out of fuel and crash landed on the black beach at Solheimasandur on the south coast of Iceland. Everyone survived. Later it turned out that the pilot simply had switched over to the wrong fuel tank. Jan. 2020 two Chinese tourist died while making the hour long hike here of exposure when they got caught in a snow storm. The plane has been in many videos and album covers including Justin Beiber, whoever that is.
In the months before going to Iceland I had really looked forward to going to the Fjadrargljufar Canyon. Not because Justin Bieber made a video there, but because "the canyon has steep walls and winding water. It is up to 100 m (330 ft) deep and about 2 kilometres long". I had no idea how to pronounce its name but officially it is pronounced ˈfjaːðraurˌkljuːvʏr̥. I bet that helps? "It's near the village of Kirkjubæjarklaustur". Bet that interests you? Well, what really hooked me was some of the drone footage, which is fantastic.
"Its origins dates back to the cold periods of the Ice Age, about two million years ago". Wasn't it always cold in the Ice Age? That's what Wikipedia says, but who writes this? "The canyon was created by progressive erosion by flowing water from glaciers through the rocks and palagonite over millennia. A waterfall flows down the western side of the canyon, visible from an observation platform at the end of a one-mile hike up the eastern edge. In May 2019, authorities closed the canyon to visitors after it appeared in a music video by Justin Bieber. The resulting stream of visitors threatened to damage the canyon's environment"
Well we neither saw Justin Beiber, the winding water or much evidence of the canyon as it was covered and full of snow, as I think my photo adequately shows. There are a few small figures walking where the edge is above, but photographically in these conditions it was a dud.

There wasn't much at Beiber, the interchange point on the Inside Gateway between the Western Pacific and Great Northern. A six unit matched set of F7s sit on the house track awaiting an assignment as the sun settles in the west. In the distance are the GN facilities that provided train orders and quarters for crews laying over - and where we would sleep tonight having signed in as student railroaders. We caught a ride on the Highline with Jimmy Boynton and rode GP9 728, 4th in the consist, from Keddie to Greenville, then were escorted to the lead F7 for the rest of the trip into Beiber. All this based on a note from Will Whitaker to Jim that said, "These boys or OK!" We would catch a return ride on this power set at 4:15 AM the next day.

Agnes as Miss January for the Western College of Veterinary Medicine 2020 calendar. I'm so pleased that they chose her for the calendar.
The SWG (Santa Fe-Western Pacific-Great Northern) rolls on tangent track across high elevation meadows on Western Pacific's Highine. A brace of 4 newish U30-Bs, lead by the 763, all in silver and orange paint, roll PNW tonnage toward Beiber where it will be handed over to the GN. The power may run all the way through to Klamath Falls or be swapped out at Beiber for GN power depending on power availability. I used an orange filter to bring out the clouds and you might notice it almost nearly obliterated the orange mid-body stripe on the locomotives.
took the city picture on the plane (thank god for window seats!) and the paper on my window once I was back in my room :)
I discovered the wonderful wonderfulness that is New York City this week.
saw a broadway show. went black friday shopping on 5th avenue for 24 hours straight. said hi to helena bonham carter and tim burton. saw a good college friend and her sketchy dorms :) was an audience member of the jimmy fallon show. saw justin beiber and the swarm of high pitched fans that followed. saw the macy's thanksgiving day parade. went to a show in a bar/theater with naked new yorkers in it.
it felt like home.
Zoer and I took an 8 beer drive up north. Good looks to Scan, Zek, Stare, Senk, Sewk, Scien, Klor and Ensu. Try'n to get back to the basics. Post moar flicks.....in a few.

The SWG (Santa Fe-Western Pacific-Great Northern) rolls north under spring-time cloudy skies behind a pair of GP40-2s and a U30B - all riding on Bloomberg trucks. The two BN cars are a give-away this train is heading up the Inside Gateway. The GN moniker in 2023 is history, but this train will be exchanged with the BN at Beiber, CA. This area near the Cosummes River today is managed as a preserve by the Nature Conservancy and BLM and has been replanted with native Valley Oaks that have since established a decent forest in this area.
I painted this at the beginning of the summer with my man Guts..
I free styled this outline. It was very different from anything I had been sketching at the time and was more of a learning experience. Breaking my letters into simpler shapes and minimal lines is where the idea started to shift.

Western Pacific U30B # 768 idles at the sand tower MU'ed with 760, 769, and 763. In the background GN GP-9 706 in the Big Sky Blue scheme idles outside the engine house along with the 704 and other GP-9s and SD-9s. The WP power is a run through from the Inside Gateway and will return south on the next freight bound for California. The WP units run through from Oroville via the Feather River Canyon, WP's Highline, and GN’s southern extension. Four years ago, most trains exchanged units at Beiber, but this practice has given way to the units being better utilized either as run-throughs are via on-line unit exchanges.
Shazam Vol 2- Issue 7: “The great retcon”
Jason walks me through his home, which lies in a separate plain of existence with a portal leading to Gotham, hence why he told me I was in Gotham city. He walks me into his potion room, with fluids in glass bottles shelved across the Brick walls. After observing the room while half listening to Jason's explanation, I start to hear a piercing ringing in my ears, and then suddenly, I arrive in a completely white plain. Nothing in sight. A man wearing Blue and Red spandex, with a contraption on his chest, appears out of nowhere.
Man: “Sorry I'm late, supes.”
B: “Supes?”
Man: “Wait.. You're not Superman?”
B: “Who's Superman?”
Man: “Oh no, I done goofed. Look, sorry about this inconvenience. I can grant you three wishes to pay you back.”
B: “Who do you think I am, Aladdin?”
Man: “Look kid, take it or leave it. And Who are you again?”
B: “Shazam.” I say, expecting a lightning bolt to shoot down. But nothing comes.
Man: “Oh yeah, Shazam. Sorry I was confused from the Blue. I'm used to you wearing Red. Oh crap. That was supposed to only be in Volume three. Anyway, I'm The Atom.”
B: “Oh, yeah I've heard of you on the news, they call you Captain Shrinky Pants.”
A: “No-one calls me that.”
B: “Please, everyone calls you that.”
A: “I've heard enough of this nonsense. What are your wishes?”
B: “Um oh I got one! I want to be able to transform into myself again. Boosted powers are Great, but I'm stuck as an adult. Also, make my girlfriend Courtney my age. And bring the wizard back.”
A: “I can do all of those. Except One. Bringing Shazam back would create a string of events that ends up killing you.. But making you and Stargirl, I mean Courtney to the ripe age of fourteen is a can-do.”
And with a snap of a finger, The Atom is gone. He arrives on a granite table. This could only belong to One Man. Mr. Ham… Ray walks slowly through the dismembered minifigs, and looks up to see the Beiber-haired legend himself, the writer of Shazam.
A: “Hamuel Johnson! We need to talk! I know you're about to write the fourth issue in the first volume of Shazam, but I need you to hear One thing! Don't make Billy be stuck as an adult! He hates it! And when you write the volume two app, make Courtney Billy's age! Lois lane is the key!!!!!!”
Ray says, before phasing out of this world and into his own. He returns back to his house with Donna and sees that she's crying.
Billy arrives back to the exact moment he left, with no remembrance of what had just occurred. Portals start appearing all across the house, and yellow demons with red eyes start crawling their way to Billy and Jason Blood.
Shifts to Billy's perspective
Jason pulls out a handgun, and begins shooting the creatures. I fly through the house, trying to take down as many as I can. After quite some time, they begin to overwhelm us, as ten dogpile on me. Jason runs to a drawer, opens it, and pulls out a Black and yellow helmet, and places it on top of his head. A Yellow glow surrounds him, and he starts to hover off of the ground he opens his arms, and speaks something in a language I don't understand. An Egyptian Ankh symbol forms out of the air and glows yellow.
J: “Fly into it Billy!”
I fly as fast as I possibly can into the portal as Jason follows me. We travel through what I'd imagine a wormhole is like. We arrive on a floating piece of land, with a ginormous tower watching.
B: “Where are we?”
J: “We're at the Tower of fate. I've been meaning to give this back for awhile now.” He says, looking longingly into the helmet.

Stretching back to the days of the Bowater's Mills and its narrow gauge railway system based on Sittingbourne and the Kemsley Marshes, this area has long been the focal point of the dirty business end of town, with its sewage works, car breakers, concrete pipe works, light industry, and refuse landfill site. Today is no exception, with a procession of refuse recycling 'bin lorries' running back and forth along the service road paralleling the start of the elevated section of the Sittingbourne & Kemsley Railway at Milton Creek, as seen in this 13th May 2024 shot with 'Melior' and refuse vehicle 'Dirty Harry' running neck and neck along this section. SUEZ Recycling and Recovery UK Ltd, on behalf of Swale Borough Council have introduced a new fleet of such vehicles, appropriately named as follows!:

This morning shot from the hill north of the Keddie Wye bridge spans provides a perspective of the mainline leg of the wye, Spanish Creek below, and the west end of Keddie Yard. This is a matched set of 6 F's probably bracketed by the 916-D and 924-D. The same set we later rode back down the Highline from Beiber to Keddie.
I pass this scene near the house every day and it always catches my eye. Today with the snow settled all around I finally stopped and shot it. I love how it looks like a scene right out of the past, if a little weathered and worse for wear.
Can you feel nostalgic for a time that was before you were born? I imagine the people that used this barn, this car, this land. And I wonder what that time was like. Before the internet, cell phones, Face Book or Justin Beiber. A simpler time for sure....
