Begone, say the fawns.

No parents allowed at this party.

Keeping an eye out for our first whitetail fawns of the year. Should be any day now. Such a delight to watch.

A few other fawn shots from summer's past in comments.

Hope your weekend is fun and relaxing!

Alas, April 20 and a wintry mix of sleet-snow and freezing temps today. . .not good for the spring flowers that have popped up. . .hope everyone else is having better weather than in the Ozarks.

Everyone is stirring, a new day has begone

~ Old memories - it's time to discard

Throw you on the pyre along with all vices

There's a time for everything and that time has passed

Can't you just find someone else?

Begone all old ghosts

I cut the leash, just leave, you are free... ~

The penguins on Boulders Beach are friendly. But I can’t tell whether this one was posing for me or just thinking, “Begone, peasant!”

One of my fav snapshots from my weekend vacation to South Africa. This is a beautiful beach and town sim based on the RL Boulders Beach in Cape Town that is home to hundreds of African Penguins.

Check out my little SL travel blog for more on Boulders Beach and lots of other cool RL-inspired destinations in Second Life.

My eyes open to glitter dancing on the water

and soft soothing sounds of gentle spreading ripples.

With a swoosh above my head, a blue heron swoops in low;

flapping his wings to summon the winds and blow me away.

Upon landing, he delivers an odd look in my direction.

Only a few moments later, another flies in from the sun,

And takes the center stage as morning light beams from her bill

Regal and knowing, she gave me a stare.

“Begone,” she said, “begone and let us have our day!”

“These are our magic waters, now shoo and go away!”

She was right of course.

With a smile on my face, I replied, “I shall do as you say.”

I was out photographing the birds and there were quite a few tricolored herons about. These two seem particularly interested or perhaps wearing of what I was doing. The expression on these herons caught my attention.

Thanks for the favs and kind words and enjoy your day ahead!

Enough of this nonsense ... Covid 19 begone ... we need to get back to Portugal. This is the longest period of time that we have been away in the last decade and a half. Posting old photos from previous visits is not a substitute for being there!

Toadflax was historically used as a method of protection against witchcraft. In England, three Toadflax seeds strung on a linen thread were said to ward of evil. It was a particularly useful plant for breaking hexes. In Scotland, walking around a Toadflax plant three times was said to unbind any spell.

...as the slow sea sucked at the shore and then withdrew,

leaving the strip of seaweed bare and the shingle churned,

the sea birds raced and ran upon the beaches.

Then that same impulse to flight seized upon them too.

Crying, whistling, calling,

they skimmed the placid sea and left the shore.

Make haste, make speed, hurry and begone;

yet where, and to what purpose?

The restless urge of autumn, unsatisfying, sad,

had put a spell upon them

and they must flock, and wheel, and cry;

they must spill themselves of motion before winter came.

A male House Finch in his 'courting colours'....well, I'm saying that anyway. It reminds me of a beautiful red velvet of a bygone era.

Yes, these guys are lovely and red all the time...but, maybe just a bit brighter in spring? ... maybe not... perhaps it is just that he is set against the backdrop of snow. In the branches; in the air; and on the background .... begone snow!! These little guys and an occasional brightly coloured robin are the only colour in the few weeks between snowy branches and some green leaves popping out.

This week... yes indeed...some little buds have become much bigger and a few leaves have sprouted on some types of trees..... the grass is greening.... woohooooooooooooo!!

Of course, we don't have spring really...it just jumps straight from winter with snow and -15C, to summer and +18C. ......the golfers are out there already and the grass is dry, dead and brown... still lumpy with frost coming out of the ground...but, they're out there!

Today the wind is blowing at 65 kph and I just noticed some guys leaning into it trying to tee off on one of the courses.

PETER:

There she is....there she is.....Little Red Riding Hood

Hello Little Red Riding Hood....here I am (waves to Little Red Riding Hood)

Oleg....she is waving at me ( blushes on both cheeks).

And...oh ...no....the wolf...I see the wolf!

Little Red Riding Hood....behind you...the big bad wolf!!!

I'm going to help you.

OLEG:

Calm down Peter everyone is watching us

PETER:

So what...Little Red Riding Hood must be saved from the wolf!

I'm going to...oh no!

Pinocchio....Pinocchio is hanging in there.

Um...I'm going to make a phone call Oleg...be right back.

It's getting very dangerous here

OLEG:

Wait Peter...who are you going to phone?

PETER:

My very best friend Scout. Scout knows all about Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf and knows how to help me.

OLEG:

No you won't. It's night in Australia, so Scout is in a deep sleep.

You're not going to wake him up now.

You have to wait until Scout is awake again.

PETER:

Then it will be too late and Little Red Riding Hood will have been eaten by the wolf and Pinocchio wants me to lie.

OLEG:

Dear Peter...Little Red Riding Hood has lived with the wolf since 1812 and that's a long....very long time and she's still alive. It's a fairy tale remember.

PETER:

For that long???? Then it's time to save her

Where hae I?

Ah stalk across a green grass land,

With great strides climb a hilltop summit,

Ah spy a flat, sheep-encrusted field,

But ah cannae spy me bunnet.

Ah flatten daisies, field and wood,

Crush strawberries ripe for the punnet,

Stamp past creatures, wolf and haggis,

But ah cannae spy me bunnet.

Up and doon the hills and meadow,

Blind by the rays of the sunset,

Ah lift my hand, casting gloaming shadows,

Since ah cannae spy me bunnet.

Across highland, heath and heidland I roam,

Traipse across scenery others would covet,

But I care not for heather nor hame,

If ah cannae spy me bunnet.

To a cabin deep in the woods Ah strode,

To find the fella fae whom Ah'd won it,

Whilst we played cards a week past last,

But he hadna seen ma bunnet.

Ah squelched out to the Kelpie's lair,

Tae ask the beast who dunnit?

Who took from me mah favourite hat?

But he said naeb'dy had ma bunnet!

Ah made ma way to me hame an' wife,

But the lass was fairly stunnit.

"Begone, for soon ma husband's hame!"

She didnae ken me withoot ma bunnet!

Ah find a spot tae climb up high,

As the wind not so gently buffets,

And doon in the field where I slept this morn,

Ah finally spy me bunnet.

Soo, now that Febrovery is over, I can post pictures that have been in the queue since... Wait, what are you doing here? What do you want?! No buddy, you're too late and I need to... OK, oh-kay, one very last. Yes, I understand that your ride... pardon, Rover is a bit on the slow side. Hop on, do the Marchrovery thing and begone.

-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-

This little thingy has been sitting on my desk for about a year. I saved it for Febrovery, then kept it as a reserve for the case I ran out of ideas - now February is over and I ran out of days instead of ideas, so here is a very last rover for this season. The postman is a little late, just as in real life.

In another year the power system will have been changed from DC current to AC 15 kV. This means also that the asymmetric power line will begone.

Thank you all for visit & comment.

The days, and the days, and the days

where are they, have they now gone forever?

heroic friends fade away in a mysterious haze

then my mind was flying, now but a fluvial anchor

it's an unusual pain, more akin to suffocation

chocked emotions of lost realisations sinking-in

alerting me like raindrops only just beginning to waken

to touch the surface where numbness weigh's-in

without so much as a shout, more a whisper

ghostly silence follows, awaiting it's new life and new dawn

but why this heart remains earthbound and out of favour?

so many things I cannot answer where light has begone

forever outpaced by time, and again, these legs fail me

a dream begot the nightmare became the reality

how overt the pains outselling peacetime by degree

plummetting coldness holds fort in a Winter waging war surrealistically

where it came from no-one knows, for where it goes is voguish

it's easier to switch times when it's all used up

and to throw all away when it's very contents are all you cherish

the volant of illusionary wishes and mourning for the lives we so worship.

For two people who have passed away recently. Two fabulous characters who never knew one another, but link through me. I'll never forget them, brave souls....rest in peace Uncle Fernand, and TBW.

This is the site of the embarkation of the Mayflower, which carried puritan pilgrims to the Americas in July 1620, so next year marks the 400th anniversary of that famous voyage.

While the pilgrims are often described as fleeing persecution and seeking religious freedom, their idea of what religious freedom meant was rather different from what most people presume. They wanted less freedom for people, and a more austere life that was even more heavily devoted to God and Church. Away with papist ideas, away with fun, begone with Christmas — the pilgrims wanted nothing to do with that decadent lifestyle, so fled England to a new land where they could be repressed to their hearts content.

Although their final departure from England was Southampton, the voyage started here in Rotherhithe, probably on this very spot, which is now known as Cumberland Wharf.

The artwork is a whimsical representation of the ghost of a pilgrim father, William Bradford, the Governor of the New Plymouth Colony

The sculpture was installed in 1991 and created by local artist, Peter McLean

"Houston, I think we have a problem" This fellow has been in our back yard rooting around into base of the grass roots early morning and evening for the last 2 days. Though I love the treat of getting to see him, not a visitor we want. We got some Ortho Animal Begone Spray which we will try spraying on the garden shed and any potential "hiding places" like lumber storage etc. hopefully he won't get set up in our yard. Any suggestions? I wonder if he might be coming for a drink from our bird bath in this extra hot weather, and then sticking around for a snack. (Photo taken through the sliding door)

I am sincerely grateful for the ability to read and also what reading gives me… a sense of adventure, sharing a book & snuggling with my children, developing a new skill, travel to far away destinations without the hassle of sitting on a 8 hour flight with my 2 year old, improving myself, meeting strangers and making friends, learning about human nature & most importantly, seeing through the eyes of another. Reading is a gift and I am blessed.

For the 30 days gratitude group.
