Fledgeling Great Spotted Woodpecker [Dendrocopos major]
This little beauty is about 23/24 days old. He (?) fledged yesterday so his parents will be feeding him for the next ten days, then he’s on his own.
Here, he was squawking to be fed, as his father came and went with tasty morsels for him.
I think there are two nests near The Pixies, (where I feed the birds: a mile down the hill from my house, in the woods, next to the stream), as I’ve seen two different females. So far, I’ve seen three fledgelings, only one of which has been feeding himself, intermittently, while the parents take turns at feeding all of them, whilst still tending the others in their nests.
A great joy to watch these beautiful young birds.

After seeking some advice on "how to.." ....I then spent an hour splashing tomatoes in a glass...laughing and generally feeling like a big kid again! Errors galore and plenty of mess but lots of fun!

"Nothing much could happen
Nothing we can't shake
Though we're absolute beginners
We've nothing much at stake
As long as you're still smiling
There's nothing more I need
I absolutely love you
But we're absolute beginners
Well if my love is your love
We're certain to succeed..."
Cruising down 11th street in downtown Michigan City, the 1900 job from the BRC brings a cut of cars back to the shops as they pass an old South Shore depot. For this being my first ever time of the South Shore, it definitely didn't disappoint.

sometimes in life we have to wait. for texts, people, moments or just summer. sometimes these things need quite a short time to happen, sometimes they take more time. and sometimes these things will probably never happen.

When I first started Apophysis 7X, all I managed to do was generate some random fractals - the result was pretty hopeless.
I experimented with all kinds of variations for random fractals until I found a set that could easily be tweaked into something fairly presentable.
In the following album you can find this easy method to familiarise yourself with making fractals in Apophysis 7X, starting from a certain type of random fractals.
Tweaking them, helps you understand how fractals work and what the variations do while you have pretty nice results fairly quickly.

I made hundreds and hundreds and then some of those, before I began to understand how this works.
Save all your attempts, even if they look dreadful. Later on, when you get the hang of things, you can use those as basis to turn them into something pretty.

MULTI-COLOR DRAGON CHINESE COSTUME.
The Chinese dragon or Oriental dragon is a mythical creature in East Asian culture with a Chinese origin. It is visualized these days as a long, scaled, snake-like creature with four legs and five claws on each (though it did not always have five claws). Chinese dragon has long been a potent symbol of auspicious power in Chinese folklore and art. The Chinese dragon is traditionally also the embodiment of the concept of YANG (male) and associated with the weather as the bringer of rain and water in an agriculturally water-driven nation. It's female counterpart is the FENGHUANG (usually translated as a phoenix)

My finger mistakenly touched the shutter when I checked the monitor. It's clear I still have a lot to learn about using my new camera, there are so many buttons and functions that I don't even know exist.
