Got a new camera as an anniversary gift, so doing a mass upload of existing photos from the old camera. Apologies for the flood!

Mr. Bluebird brings home a big tasty beetle. It's amazing to watch them snarf down a whole beetle in one gulp, and you can watch it go down because it produces a large lump that slowly moves down the bird's breast. Thanks again for taking a look. I do appreciate your visits.

Yet another one from the archives, I got quite excited yesterday when I came across two snails mating, ah ha I thought, finally I find a new one for Hump Day - Silly me, even I know snails aren't insects, so they will be saved for another day! HIHD

I spotted this blister beetle scurrying along in the Mojave Desert. I put my finger in front of it, and when it bumped into it, the beetle stopped and assumed this defensive posture - head down, butt up, wing covers open. These beetles have a toxin called cantharidin in their blood, which they can intentionally leak from their joints if bothered. Duly warned, I took a few quick photos and let it go on its way.

really nothing more than a speck, yet so ornate

with a very long nose.

Came in with the washing :)

I believe in organic gardening, so I don't spray my flowers. I smushed the bug between my fingers instead.

Rosemary Beetle

This is a macro photograph of a very small little beetle I spotted today in my garden.

These beetles are very colourful and iridescent they do eat the lavender and Rosemary plants, I love nature so I like them as much as the plants!

Longhorn Beetle (Agapanthia villosoviridescens) [Stk 6 frms]

Located at the Canyon Farm Yard Lodge. It is a very nice spot on the way to the Fish River canyon where you cross the railways. There is a few car wrecks and the owners are very friendly.

This goregeous Soldier Beetle was settled on the Knap Weed

Taken lying on my belly grass high. I was just watching these beetle fly from place to place looking for food.

This Chafer Beetle is eating pollen on a Buttercup flower. I managed to get five frames before the critter realized I was close and stopped feeding.

Tech Specs: Canon 80D (F11, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MP-E 65mm macro lens (around 2.5x) + a diffused MT-26EX-RT with a Kaiser adjustable flash shoe on the "A" head (the key), E-TTL metering, -1/3 FEC, second curtain sync). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. In post I used Topaz Sharpen AI, Denoise AI, and Clarity in that order. I was holding on to the flower's stem with my left hand, and then resting the lens on that same hand to help keep the scene steady.

At Priddy Mineries - they are fairly common here.

Perhaps a brown leatherwing beetle?

This fine little creature appeared suddenly, full of cobwebs when I was clearing behind the dustbin. I positioned her on a stone and watched her clean off the strands before making herself scarce.
