Old rails are used to retain the roadbed of the CP North Toronto line along Marlborough Ave near Summerhill. Until roughly the 1960's, CP had a lead that split from the south service track at Avenue Rd, which sank to street level and served the freight houses across Yonge Street from the old North Toronto station. The spur today is a short walking path, and the old freight houses and other industry has been replaced with a parking lot and tennis racket club since I think the 1980's.

Four (4) uniformed employees came out and told me it was illegal to take photos of this building, and ordered me to stop. They were pleasant enough. I stopped. I must have looked very dangerous to have warranted four (4) of them.
Once again I was at the Eastgate Mall shopping centre and its bus terminal area to pick up a friend. It was dusk and while I was waiting I took a few shots of one of the canopy-covered seating areas and covered waiting areas. Seated, there was a man in a distinctive red jacket and a bit further on, the illuminated Beer Store sign. Man studying a beer store: who would have guessed. - JW

Tech Details:
Taken using a hand-held Nikon D800 fitted with an AF-S Nikkor 24-120mm VR 1:4.0 lense set to 55mm, ISO3200 (Auto ISO), Daylight WB, Matrix metering, Shutter Priority Mode, f/4.0, 1/500 sec with an EV-0.67 exposure bias. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon SOOC JPEG source file: set final image size to be 9000 px wide, darken overall by setting exposure compensation to EV-0.28, slightly increase Contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, use the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool to slightly darken the sky portion of the frame, slightly boost black level, very slightly increase Vibrance, apply noise reduction, sharpen, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP: use the Hue-Saturation-Brightness tool sightly reduce the blue channel (to get a better sky) and then increase the red channel saturation brightness and saturation to help bring out the seated figure’s red jacket (as well as the distant gasoline station upper portions), use the Contrast/Brightness tool to slightly increase overall contrast, sharpen, save, scale to 6000 px wide, sharpen, save, add fine black-and-white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 3000 px wide for posting online, sharpen, save.
The Beer Store's spacious parking lot is a favorite place for Police Cars to stop, write reports, etc. The unmarked car is just leaving and the Police Car ahead slowed and acknowledged the driver. I blurred out the license plates and numbers as usual.

DOCUMENTING A PANDEMIC - A photo album

March 19, 2020.
Brewers Retail (now The Beer Store) 99127 Freightliner FL80 bottle delivery truck at Tail Gators at the Merivale Mall in the Nepean sector of Ottawa, Ontario Canada.
I-5 Design and Manufacture created 3d conceptual designs for the interior of the Liquor Barn. For the wine area, I-5 created custom wall mural bands depicting harvest vineyards and lush grapes. Over the large wine cases and throughout the interior, we designed custom wood trellises suspended from the ceiling to tie into the rustic winery theme. This is the Deli area inside of the Liquor Barn, where I-5 Design and Manufacture created custom conceptual designs. This rendering features a vintage brick wall with painted artwork to produce an old-style feel. On the refrigerator walls, dimensional lettering mounted onto the face of the custom textured valance produce a classic look and the suspended wooden trellis suspended from the ceiling ties into the rustic winery feel. I-5 Design and Manufacture created conceptual designs for the interior of the ‘Liquor Bar’. The use of bold colors and simple shapes/elements all contribute to the overall industrial feel that was produced throughout the store. Full color murals and banners were designed to add color and interest, as well as tie into the color palette of the aisle signage. Click here to see more examples of interior store designs
This is one of the conceptual design renderings of the customer service area, by I-5 Design and Manufacture. Suspended over the service counter is a custom manufactured valance structure with exposed grid work and bold lettering to emphasize value and benefit. Surrounding the perimeter of the aisles is an artistic wall-mural band depicting various types of liquor and ingredients. Click here to see more examples of store design
