We have a winner! Got this seasonal in the 'beers of winter' pack - rich flavor, great mouth feel, deep smoky malt flavor, easy on the hops. An excellent winter brew.
I got a basket-o-beer for x-mas and twelve of them, I hadn't had before. Starting today I'm going to review a beer a day for 12 days. This is the 144th type of beer that I've tried.
Tecate is brewed by Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery in Mexico. It's a pale lager that is pretty similar to Corona or Sol. Not bad but not great either. I'm not really a fan of light beers so i'm biased against this one.
Mill Street Stock Ale is a golden export-style ale made from only malt and hops, no fillers of adjuncts. The malt's natural sweetness is perfectly balanced by the bitterness derived from the hops.
photo info: The flash was pointed behind bottle from the top. The lack of light in the room caused the front label of the bottle to be underexposed. I had to tweak the crap out of the levels to darken the label up. The background is cheap craft foam from Michael's.
Estrella is a pilsener brewed by S.A. Damm brewery in Barcelona, Spain. It's a very easy drinking beer (almost too easy) that is not too heavy to have with a meal but not too light to be satisfying by itself.
It would definitely buy this again.
Ozujsko is a Croatian lager brewed by Zagreb Brewery. It's pretty good. If i'm ever in Croatia, i'll definitely try it again.
Wychwood Bah Humbug! is a christmas ale that pretty much tastes like rum covered fruit cake with cinnamon. It's definitely a dessert beer. The "christmas" flavours are almost too overbearing.
Wychwood's common beer (at least around here) is Hobgoblin.
This is the 150th type of beer that I've tried.
It's a pretty generic tasting english ale in a fancy bottle.
Unless you collect cool bottles, I wouldn't recommend this beer.
The bottle describes it better than I can.
"Inspired by the long, cold and seemingly endless Canadian winter, our 6.2% alcohol Winter Ale is a true winter warmer. Handcrafted with specialty hops and malts, combined with generous amounts of cinnamon, honey, ginger and orange peel, this unique beer is brimming with flavour. Available only for a limited time."
The bottle label is pretty lame looking but this is the best tasting beer that i've tried in a LONG time. It would put it in my top five. A smooth fruity ale with a slight cinnamon finish. It's hard to put into words how good this is.
meh... not bad..
I expected more of a coffee taste.
Finally, no more of my poor attempts at reviewing beer. All my x-mas beer is gone.
from the bottle:
"Our Helles Bock is aged slowly for full body and rich flavour. It has a deep golden colour which is traditional for a "helles" or pale bock beer."
So far everything that I've had from Mill St. Brewery is really good, and this bock is no different. It has a full bodied taste without the usual skunk and has an added kick from the 6.5% alc.
When I first saw the label for Neustadt 10w30 I assumed it would drink like gravy. While it's very malty, it's an easy drinking ale. Neustadt is brewed in Neustadt, Ontario, Canada.
one more day to go....
"Mill St. Belgian style Wit is an unfiltered, refreshing beer made with a unique blend of ingredients. The resulting cloudiness gave rise to the term Wit, or White beer."

from the back of the bottle
This stuff contains dried orange peel and ground coriander with unique taste without being over powering. I would definitely recommend this beer but I would only have 2 or 3 at a time.
Brewed by Mill St. Brewery in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
