When I asked about rock art in the park, the rangers at Organ Pipe were most unhelpful. One of them even refused to acknowledge if any even existed! Another said there was some, but would not disclose any locations. This really chapped my hide.

Anyway, I figured if there was going to be rock art anywhere, it'd be near a water source, so when I was at Dripping Spring, I had a good look around. I did not find any glyphs, but I did find this outcropping with three morteros.

If anyone knows of rock art in the park, please let me know.

I know, another crappy photo. I'm documenting my trip. :-)

As lazy as a summer's day, the crystal clear, slow moving water of Eagle Creek softly blurs the stones in the creekbed below Punchbowl Falls. To all of you who are suffering from the heat wave at summer's end, I wish you cooling streams!!!

I spotted this chunk of (I think) metamorphosed limestone rock as I climbed up to the summit of Buckwheat Dunes in Death Valley National Park.

Typical geology of the Canadian Sheild with exposed smooth metamorphic (granit) rock ground down by severe glaciation and continued flow of the river. Water levels at this time of year are relatively low. The drift wood indicates how high the spring flood reached (several feet feet above the current).
