I set this old 35 mm camera on the worn out wooden bed liner of the 1960s Chevrolet pickup truck.

It was my wife's camera. It is not working right anymore. She put it in the large box with others years ago. Recently, she unpacked the boxes and discovered this, and was about to toss it away, I told her, "No, I want it!" So, I am using it as my "model".

Oh, I am a Canon user. 😬

While dropping off my string trimmer at the lawn care shop, this beautiful '65 Ranchero showed up, its owner picking up his lawn mower after servicing.

Despite its stellar appearance here, the owner has equipped it with a bedliner of some type to deal with expected wear and tear of using it sometimes in a utilitarian way.

The pivotal reason I leaned on RAM was due to the Mopar connection. The fact that they custom manufacture hundreds of accessories for RAMs is priceless. From running boards and bed steps to vinyl decals, lift kits, and tonneau covers, you can't go wrong with Mopar. Of course, the Rebel model is already rugged and features an aggressive front fascia, performance-tuned shock absorbers, skid plates, 1” higher suspension, Goodyear Wrangler all-terrain tires, 18x8” off-road rims, and a bulged performance hood to house the stalwart 5.7-liter V8 HEMI e-Torque engine. However, I tapped into Mopar’s massive inventory to outfit “Soul Rebel 22” with a few essential parts that included:

This plastic doesn't much care for paint or glue and usually you'll need to use adhesion promoter when changing the color, but this bedliner went on very well. Scraping any of it off takes a pretty rough hand

Recent major maintenance:

11/4/13 at 181,981 miles - Heads replaced, replaced valve seals, lap valves, replaced head gasket and valve cover gasket, replaced water pump and knock sensor wires. Replaced heater hose, spark plugs and oil and other lubrication. Replaced front bake pads and machined rotors. This work under warranty for 12,000 miles/12 months.

8/5/2013New catalytic converter

2/2/13 at 177,244Replaced all fuel injectors and intake gasket.

3/30/09 at 152,068Tires replaced and brake hoses replaced.

7/16/08 at 147,126Timing belt, crank pulley, harmonic balancer and all belts replaced.

Unresolved Issues:

•There is a rust/corrosion issue on the frame on the drivers side by the rear axle and I’ve been given an estimate of $1200-1500 for repair. (I’m told the repair involves removing the bed, dropping the gas tank and fishplating/welding steel to the frame.)

•The airbag light on the instrument panel intermittently comes on. I’ve actively tried to resolve this issue and it still comes on. We’ve replaced the clockpring, left seat belt and wiring harness. An airbag specialist has adjusted it and the issue remains a mystery.

Other info:

•The TRD decals were removed from the truck because of peeling. The truck was professionally buffed out by Ultimate Auto Body and completely removed the dullness associated with some of the white trucks.

•Oil changes and lubrication were done regularly and the truck burns no oil.

•The NADA Guide indicates clean retail around $9000 Kelly Blue Book is around $7000 for good condition. I’m asking $6000 to allow the buyer to make the frame repair.

Today we built from scratch, a 11' x 20' metal pole barn. Well it's at this point in it's life so far. Storm came up, unexpectedly so we had to screw in some mobile home anchor's, and strap her down cause the concreted poles had not had time to setup.

These screw in anchor's are amazing, They go in fast and easy, yet I don't think one could pull them outa the ground with a chain and pickup.

Put a big "X" with straps on the front opening, using a couple of the screw in anchors, and it locked the barn down solid as a rock.

I hope to build out the front of the building with some nice looking siding and front entrance door. So it will catch one's eye, and distract it from the unusual method of running the R-Panels sideways... :)

Also, by installing the R-Panels sideways, starting at the top ridge of the roof, the panels wrap the building eliminating a separate roof and wall joint. Thus eliminating the means of a strong wind ripping the roof off of the building itself. It would have to literally suck all the screw in anchors and concreted poles out of the ground in order to obliterate the building. Then, by encapsulating the building perimeter with earth bags filled with whatever substrate you are comfortable with using, will give the structure both thermal mass and a strong earthen tornado resistant wall if one lays the earth bags in a manner that has a large base, tapering up to the top of the building, making the wind essentially detour up and over the structure.

Some might ask, what about moisture up against the metal siding? Well you spray/paint the exterior walls up to the point of where you decide to stop with your earth bags, with "Spray On or Roll On" bedliner material, making the metal siding very resistant to moisture damage.

Once the wall is earth bagged with a tapered "think pyramid" perimeter, you can easily cover the bags with the material they use to keep dirt from being eroded away in a newly landscaped area, seeding it with your favorite grass or native ground cover seeds and let the seeds take root in the sand bags. You'll have a nice natural looking GREEN building, especially if you go with an evergreen plant native to your area.

UPDATE 9/2/2013 - The storm mentioned above after just getting the Pole Barn started did some roof damage around the neghborhood and shredded a pool canopy. When asked this morning, how did this thing survive after just being put up, with the concrete still green? I said one word "Engineering" - You have to think like the wind.... IE: If I were the wind, how would I attack this particular building in order to take it down. Then eliminate all those weak points... lol :)

Some of you may have no seen the before pictures but this car has made a complete 180 and gotten a beautiful face lift. It looks great in person. The car originally was covered in truck bedliner. Nuff' said.

These TRD decals have been removed when the truck was buffed and polished.

And the figure in the passenger seat is based on a true grandchild. Obviously Chris Norgaar, from North State Scale Modelers, is more than a one-trick pony. This thing is beautiful. And the other two he brought, astoundingly weathered, show a whole range of finishing skills besides new/clean, accurate bare-metal and look - dust on the running boards!

• Cold Air Intake System

• Cat-Back Exhaust System

• Spray-In Bedliner

• Utility Rails & Hide-a-Hooks

• Deployable Bed-Step

• Cargo Bed Divider

• Matte Black Front Air Deflector

• Mopar Accessory Kit featuring:

1.Stainless Steel License Plate Cover

2.Stainless Steel Keychain

3.Mopar Valve Stem Caps
