This is the third one of these simple platform beds Darren and I have built. I think that building stuff relieves stress by forcing you to focus on the moment, which is probably why we have been drawn to these projects recently. This one is a twin size "daybed," and will serve as an extra kid-sleeping or tv-watching spot in our bedroom. Only a couple more bed spots left in the house... then it's on to yoga for stress management!
had fun making this little rustic four-poster bed ..and found some fabric in my old fabric box (I never through anything away it seems..)
I wasn't going to make this one public..Have been getting some new shots for a book I am going to do and wanted to keep some surprises...but I hit the wrong button..oops...but there are some more with the bed that may be in the book...;-)
Commissioned Diorama.
Entirely handmade by me.
Materials: wood, fabrics, paint.

Notice my little reading lamp which is actually supposed to be hung up on the wall - how lazy can you get!
Time has seemingly stood still inside this room, part of a defunct boarding house, with vintage beds, wallpaper and flooring looking much the same as they did half a century and more ago.
My dad and I designed and built this bed from big boards of Tennessee walnut a couple years ago. It's pretty much the greatest.
EDM5 Draw your bed - unmade this morning (in the far corner on the pillow is a very old bear who will feature in tomorrow's EDM)
This is part of the Everyday in May challenge - drawing something every day
in May. A group of us thought it would be fun to do a Everyday Matters (EDM)
challenge each day using EDM 1-31. The list is here
The Group that is going to give this a go (so far... let me know if you want to join in and be added to the list)

we had big festive plans for today.
but woke up to find our oldest burning hot.
so we stayed home and hibernated.
we did manage to coordinate naps so everyone went to bed at the same time.
My favourite piece! It is of beads threaded together (not sewn on a piece of canvas or cloth). The threading technique is now unknown although some people have tried to reproduce it. It is meant to be a bed hanging (for a four-posted wedding bed), although (as the curator pointed out) its weight makes it quite a impractical bed hanging for normal use.
a better sense of the scale of the piece can be seen in this photo (the bed hanging can be seen at the bottom of the photo)
