Arltunga is located on the 5 000 hectare Arltunga Historical Reserve. Arltunga was officially central Australia’s first town, that was born out of a gold rush after gold was found in dry creek beds in the surrounding areas during 1887. Arltunga was producing gold until 1913 when production stopped. The area is now open for exploration and is filled with many old ruins. The police station and jail (displayed above) was restored after rumours were told of gold being hidden within the walls that were later destroyed in search of it.

It's been a little while since I've posted a photo of Chase sleeping on someone.
This was taken a month or two ago but has stuck in my mind for a while now. It also makes me think I need a pocket camera with a longer zoom lens.

Been there, done that. Even when new, this setup (no-spring mattress and a wire bed frame) might yield a good night's sleep only if you were very, very tired.
Painted Hills, John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, Central Oregon
The Painted Hills are part of the John Day Fossil Beds. Paleontologists have been unearthing and studying the fossils in the region since 1864. The monument contains extensive deposits of well-preserved fossils from various periods spanning more than 40 million years.
The reds in the hills are said to come from iron oxides. The greens come from blue clay and the yellows are from reduced irons. The buff or pale colors are said to be the color of the original ash that was spewed from the volcanoes.
I spent a good portion of today sleeping... I'm not feeling well. Stink is a very nice pillow... except for when she gets tired of it and tries to bite your ears off.
This is a drone shot of mudstone beds near North Caineville Mesa on the Cathedral Valley road in Capitol Reef National Park. This was my first drive on the loop road and I enjoyed it. I did some drone practice at this spot and also the prior day at the Bentonite Hills, but only in areas outside the national park boundaries.
Bentonite is an absorbent aluminium phyllosilicate clay that tends to form badlands, consisting mostly of montmorillonite. Now we need to find out what montmorillonite is!
Allergies have been robbing me of energy recently :/ All I want to do is sleep it seems! But I'd rather have a bed in the forest for this weeks theme!

Dave: Agnes, I was looking for you.
Agnes: You should have looked in the bed first. I've been here a while.
Dave: But, it's only 8:30 pm and we're all hanging out downstairs.
Agnes: Noted. I've been listening.
Dave: Don't you want to hang out with us?
Agnes: Often. But haven't you noticed how comfy this bed is? I've been up here for an hour.
Dave: It is comfy. I'm heading back down. Want to join me?
Agnes: It depends on what's going on. This bed is like one pole of a magnet and my butt is the other pole. I can leave, but the pull of what's going on downstairs needs to be greater than the pull of the bed magnet.
Dave: Okay. Then I guess I'll head down without you and you might miss out on going outside and getting a bedtime biscuit.
Agnes: I won't miss that. Like I said, I've been listening and the moment anyone says "outside" or "biscuit" I'll be down there faster than you can say "I wonder where Agnes is"

Aggie often is the first to bed. She will go up and just lounge on the big bed while we're doing other things. I noticed how the light spilled out of the bedroom framing the scene when I came up to find her in this spot the other week and all of the hall lights were off. The photo just involved turning off the hall lights and setting spot exposure to include her on the bed. I like how it makes the bedroom look a bit like another dimension.
