Because it was relatively warm outside, we decided to head out to Lake Michigan. As soon as we stepped onto the beach, it wasn't warm anymore! This is a look down Lighthouse Beach in Evanston, Illinois.
This was taken during our drought a few years ago. This is a local reservoir that had shrunk dramatically. These lifeguard towers are on the beachfront. You can see the sign that says "No Dogs on Beach".

During lockdown I was missing the beach a lot, so I wanted to create a beach-themed photo indoors and this is the result.
I have these miniature shells (they are smaller than my fingernail, who lives in these?!) from a long-forgotten holiday so I tried to create a ‘sunset’ with them. I’m hoping this looks quite exotic because in reality it was taken on my coffee table in suburban Ipswich!
Took me a while, with a few props, to get the effect I was after.
We’re allowed to go to the beach now :)
The warm air, foamy waves and dark brown lines in the sand grabbed my attention. Imagine living in this paradise I thought, all year long. There are places in the hills just beyond where there is never a thought of wearing a winter coat and boots.
This was a wonderful beachfront moment. One that deserved the pause taken to drink it all in. Then the waves came in and the beach changed. I began to sink in the sand as the water retreated "Dory" came to mind, "just keep moving".
As we were driving along the coast, I wanted to get a shot of the fog covering the land. When we first got to the coast everything was covered in fog. As we drove north, the beach near Hearst Castle opened up with sun. I took this picture just South of Hearst State Beach. I liked the lines and I was able to capture the fog bank in the background.
