Always and ever fire has held a fascination that it so richly deserves. The branch doesn't seem to burn but it's all perspective surely. On a beach in Northern Arm, NL.

Monday, August 17, the day after the Beach Fire ignited near South Tufa. The Beach Fire smoke cleared up that night, but dry lightning ignited fires all over Northern California, and their smoke has been drifting over the Sierra Nevada in the afternoons and settling into valleys at night.

An old image (2003) as I go through all the print entries I made for the New Brighton Photographic Club monthly competitions in the 2004-2010 period. Now adding the missing ones to flickr.

These folks spent most of the day dragging driftwood for a fire above the tide line. Park rangers get very excited when people do this. But on this day, there was nary a ranger to hit them with a fine. The beach is on the Pacific Ocean in Washington State.
Bei einem mannshohen Lagerfeuer kommt Wärme auf.
A man-sized campfire generates heat (Bregenz,

A little abstract perhaps but catching the flames that way was great if I had planned it!! Northern Arm NL.
French Beach, 2:30ish AM.
Erika sat by the fire to be warm and dim the intense light, Joram played the alien and spun the firestick, I rocked out the headlamp and backwards writing. We all experienced much awesomeness.
I love the island.
this is pretty awesome,
lightning striking out upwards and outwards!!
from the beach image I posted last night . . .

There were several small groups with fires going on the beach, although there was a bit of a side-effect from this, as all the smoke blew across the promenade, so everyone walking and cycling along found themselves going through a cloud of smoke (not so pleasant, fortunately only a small section). No idea if the different groups were all together or not, but there were several, looked like some were cooking food too, unusual to see so late in the year, perhaps they were just taking advantage of the fact that the temperature was so mild for November (quite right!)
MFRS - Southport Papa 2 are seen leaving Formby Fire Station on Standby as Formby had yet another fire in the woods, Formby's pump can also be seen arriving back in the bay as Southport are leaving.

Well, the parking ticket machines are nw up in the lake pier carpark - not in use yet, but installed - so soon I, along with many dog-walkers and sunset-watchers will be moving on to new pastures.
wow, a lot going on tonight and I did not have the time to be there . . .
but, I did not want to miss out either, so I went and checked it out . . .
wow! the crescent moon was setting as Jupiter was leading the way
and a storm front dawdled by and these folks had a beach fire
(that I'm hoping they put out!) and to bring it into perspective ...
I stepped in dog doo on the way back to the car, but didn't know
it until on the way home and a smell that wasn't supposed to be
there became ever more present ... crud, I was on the main trail
to the beach, so that means some dog person let their
best bud poop in the trail and left it there ... !!!!!
I like dogs, but have little tolerance for folks that do not
curb their pooches ... or at least clear the trail :\
