Setting the Scene:

Before going to bed, I created this miniature canvas for a review of a recently purchased beach charm. Upon awakening, I studied my piece, trying to compose a title.
Spontaneously, after googling different meanings for the common beach ball, the following description appeared with an interesting analogy that could definitely support and give insight to my nightmare. This experience is not uncommon to intensive work I’ve done with visual journaling.
“With one hand, you're holding a beach ball underwater. This beach ball represents something that you've been actively avoiding or repressing, like an unwanted emotion (e.g., shame, fear, or anger), life experience (e.g., criticism or social rejection), or memory (e.g., prior trauma).”

Towards the end of May, Metro North released its first heritage unit commemorating its 40th anniversary. The unit is done up in a "beachball" inspired livery that the P32 predecessor wore, the FL9. On this specific day, the 208 was making its first trip to Poughkeepsie in its new paint scheme.

The First Revenue Run Of Metro-North's First Heritage Unit. Tuesday, May 23, 2023, marked the first day of revenue service for MTA Metro-North Railroad MNCW 208 (P32AC-DM, Beachball Paint Scheme, 40th Anniversary) since it was repainted. A week prior, it was released from railroad’s North White Plains shop in a commemorative “beachball” paint scheme heritage wrap in honor of its 40th anniversary. This paint scheme was used on the FL9s as well as still being present on some west of Hudson equipment. The day began with the engine facing geographic south, highly unusual for Metro-North Service. Railroad executives had photo sessions with the locomotive at both Croton Harmon and Grand Central. The engine was then returned to its normal geographic north facing position as it made its afternoon trips. MTA Metro-North Railroad President Catherine Rinaldi recently announced that there would be 5 wraps honoring predecessor railroads, to include New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail.
The locomotive is seen leading train 728 while passing under the Broadway Bridge in Marble Hill, New York, New York.

In order to set up its first revenue run the next day, on Monday, May 22, 2023, MNCW 208 (P32AC-DM) was brought out to be turned with a “maxi-bomb” (7 coach) consist to face in the southbound direction. A week prior, it was released from railroad’s North White Plains shop in a commemorative “beachball” paint scheme heritage wrap in honor of its 40th anniversary. This paint scheme was used on the FL9s as well as still being present on some west of Hudson equipment. MTA Metro-North Railroad President Catherine Rinaldi announced that there would be 5 wraps honoring predecessor railroads, to include New York Central, Penn Central, and Conrail. The train is seen in Marble Hill, New York passing through the rock cut towards Spuyten Duyvil with the Henry Hudson Bridge in the background.
