Recently captured as the BC Ferry was arriving into Departure Bay Terminal, Nanaimo.

Vancouver Island, BC, Canada

I took this the last time we were on the ferry going to Vancouver Island. This was on the car deck. I liked the way the light came in through the window and created the shadows and shapes. I decided to go with a strong contrast black and white to try to hide most of the streaks and marks on the walls.

Horseshoe Bay is a community of about 1,000 permanent residents, located in West Vancouver, in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Situated on the western tip of West Vancouver at the entrance to Howe Sound, the village marks the western end of Highway 1 on mainland British Columbia (and furthermore the main route of the Trans-Canada Highway on the Canadian mainland). It also serves as the southern end of the Sea-to-Sky Highway, with Lions Bay just 15 minutes north.

I truly appreciate your kind words and would like to thank-you all, for your overwhelming support.

Departure Bay, Nanaimo, BC, Canada. We are heading to our daughter’s place in Ladner so the Duke Point Terminal would have been better but, due to staffing shortages, the ferry we were counting on was cancelled. So now we have more driving but will still get to Ladner tonight so that’s great.

Yesterday I drove my daughter Natasha over to Vancouver in order to go back to college .. post covid close down . we took the ferry from Vancouver Island .. and got lost in traffic . crazy busy day for moving ...

wish her the best . we will miss her

Passengers watching as the passing ferry quickly heads away from us.

Watching our wake, just after dawn.

.....off the rear end of this ferry...please.

returning from UK . thoroughly jet lagged

I took this photo back in 2007. It was taken from a B.C. Ferry. Something a little different to upload tonight. I hope everyone is having a great day today. :D

Being followed by a moon shadow

I was taking a shot of the light coming through the opening on the upper deck of the ferry when this guy walked into my shot. At first I thought he could have said something to me, acknowledging that I was taking a shot and maybe waiting or saying excuse me before walking into the frame but then I saw him in the opening and couldn't resist taking the photo. End result: it was way better with him in it.

It would have been nice to get a glimpse of the landscape at the foot of the mountains there. :)

Have a fabulous day, everyone...

There’s a place on the run from Swartz Bay, on Vancouver Island and Tsawwassen on the mainland where the ferries pass each other, Active Pass, and it’s the narrowest part of the trip. So when they pass you get a good view of the other ferry.

Taking the ferry across from Tsawwassen to Duke Point on Vancouver Island, BC

"Spirit Class" BC Ferry in Active Pass. MV Spirit of Vancouver Island.

I just love sailboats. Even when they don't have their sails up.

This shot was taken on a BC Ferry on its way from Tswassen on the Mainland to Swartz Bay (Victoria) on Vancouver Island.

Most everyone was quite satisfied with staying inside of the ferry on our ride to the island, including Cindy, but I couldn't resist embracing the cold and wandering the decks for at least a portion of the trip.

For a while now, I've been contributing photos to Google Maps.

It's a nice diversion from Charger only photos and a fun outlet for creativity. Although I haven't made it a priority to include my Charger in the photos, somehow the car has found its way into a few of my Spokane photos (imagine that).

A number of my photos have had over half a million views each which is pretty neat. It depends greatly on the location or business you add the photo to and also who's searching Google. I can't control it so I just enjoy it when one goes crazy. So, in no particular order, here are some of the photos I've uploaded to Google Maps over the last two years.

Taken with my cell phone.

(The best camera you have is the one you are carrying.)
