Rocky Mountain Rebel Music throws down the new funky reggae sound!
The band, from Victoria BC, started in the summer of 2008 and has evolved to include 10 musicians from across Canada. This diverse collective talent accounts for the band's high energy and full sound as well as its broad range of musical influences. Charged by Reggae, Rock, Funk, Dub, Dancehall, Punk, and World Rhythms, Rocky Mountain Rebel Music delivers an original sound that defies comparison. Shredding guitars, bubblin' keys, smooth horns, hand percussion, drums, and heavy bass form the rough and rugged foundation upon which vocals rise and fall like the tide on Vancouver Island's rocky coast.
This infinitely danceable sound has captured the attention of Western Canada's live music scene with a pair of successful tours and numerous sellout shows to date. In 2009, RMRM released their eponymous debut album which was supported by a nationwide headlining tour spanning 13 dates in 6 provinces. The entire first pressing of 'Rocky Mountain Rebel Music' was sold out by the time the band wrapped this first tour, in Quebec City.
Known for mixing up their sound with numerous instruments such as Violin, Didgeridoo, Space Drum and often working with other local artists and musicians, RMRM never plays the same set twice! The band has also worked in collaboration with Victoria hip-hop group The Pocket Kings on the track “Light It Up” as well as playing a series of successful shows as an 11-piece hip-hop mashup. These rebels are notorious for their high energy, open air guerilla concerts, parties, and overall support and involvement in the Victoria music scene.

It doesn't look like the new Chief of Police knows how to budget, either.
Under former Chief Jamie Graham's command;
Victoria, BC was ranked the second most dangerous city in Canada
The VicPD was the most costly police department in British Columbia
The VicPD was the best staffed police department in Canada
The VicPD's crime-solving rate was one of the worst in all of Canada
The VicPD's officer response times consistently worsened
Chief Jamie Graham had been found guilty of discreditable conduct, again
...will things improve with our new, and apparently budget-hungry free-spending, Chief Constable Frank J. Elsner?

Sensible BC at the Legislature - Feb 11/2014
Sensible BC Team was raising awareness for sensible marijuana laws at the opening of the BC Legislature.
Alberta Government anti-marijuana propaganda poster. (by Yardley Jones)
Here are some of the Marijuana "facts" from the poster:
"Pot messes up your head. It can make you believe things are going on that aren't really happening."
"Cannabis is the most often used illicit drug in Canada. Both physical and psychological dependence can happen with regular use. Withdrawal symptoms can include grouchiness, sweating, shaking, upset stomach, and diarrhea."
"Marijuana users often experience short-term memory loss. I said, marijuana users often experience short-term memory loss."
"Some people will eat almost anything when they get the munchies."

Not only was she beautiful, she was sweet. When I apologized for my drifting marijuana smoke, she smiled and said, "I don't mind" - unlike many who act offended, or scowl at me, as though all the cars, buses, and trucks that drive by spew healthy fresh air that they prefer over my reefer exhaust.
Her response made me think she was 420 friendly, but I dared not offer her a toke, for fear of the perception of an old creep with a camera offering drugs to a sweet young lady in the streets of Victoria.
The Sensible BC campaign for a marijuana referendum;
We are calling upon the BC government to pass the Sensible Policing Act, which will stop police from searching or arresting otherwise law-abiding citizens for possession of marijuana.
The Sensible Policing Act also demands the federal government repeal marijuana prohibition, and mandates the BC government to figure out the rules needed for a legal marijuana system in BC.

Pride Parade & Festival 2013
The jewel in Victoria Pride Weeks crown is always our parade and festival. Pride Parade starts at Government and Pandora, it then winds through downtown Victoria, and finishes at the Festival which opens immediately after at MacDonald Park in James Bay.

For my Father's Day, among other cool gifts and spoiling me, my daughter gave me this groovy new buckle for my Harley Davidson belt. Those are our two cruiser bikes, and that's my daughter, texting, of course.
You can always count on the A-Team when you're in trouble - but the stinky weed got the community in a panic when I transported it home.

I smoke two joints in the morning, I smoke two joints at night.
I smoke two joints in the afternoon, it makes me feel alright.
I smoke two joints in time of peace, and two in time of war,
I smoke two joints before I smoke two joints,
And then I smoke two more.

Way back when, a buddy named Sam Evans befriended me, in spite of my red neck and ignorance. We lost him to AIDS back in 1988 - but I will never forget his friendship and the life lessons he taught me.

Marijuana grow-op in British Columbia. Potent cannabis from Canada's West Coast is one of the main economic products of the province. Story: bit.ly/bc-bud
To mark 4/20, I'm reposting a trip back in time, to when cannabis possession was a severe crime, and if convicted, it could literally ruin someone's life. Forever.
This photo was taken in a friend's backyard in 1977.
On October 17, 2018, Canada became the second country in the world to legalize the sale and possession of cannabis.
The rationale is that, just like alcohol, legalization and control will remove production and sale away from organized crime, ensure a safer product and help keep it away from minors by selling it through government outlets.
