The Hubbard Glacier is about 76 miles long and plunges 1200 feet into the depths of the bay. It takes 400 years for the ice to travel from the beginning of the glacier until it reaches the bay where it calves off 10 story building size icebergs into the water.

A glacier appears blue because the weight deforms the layers of overlying snow and ice. The red (long wavelengths) part of white light is absorbed by ice and the blue (short wavelengths) light is transmitted and scattered.

possible #5? Beau is our current foster rescue pup and is up for adoption. Well we think he is.

Over the past two years we have had 76 foster pups come through who have all been adopted into wonderful loving homes. Then came Beau. He has melted my heart and I struggle at the thought of adopting him out.

He is such a love. He enjoys when I read to him. Here he lays on my lap and listens intently to my every word.

Many thanks to my bff, Martian cat for the help here.

Hi Flickr folks. My family and I are safe and sound but our poor community is devastated from flooding. I had to laugh posting this image I took yesterday as BCAA insurance is at the end of the rainbow. Dark humour in these times, but it is necessary to keep a sense of humour.

Saturday Splash.. mixing milk, water and BCAA's

Three dogs who were all destine for death. Auggie due to a birth defect causing lack of toes on his back feet. Lacey as she had fallen out of the back of a pick up truck and shatter her hip. Lacey’s previous people didn’t want the expense of repairing and rehabilitation. And Jack as he was heartworm positive and previous owner “cut him loose”.

These three “throw aways” all had a blast at the bay today. Living life to it’s fullest, forgetting about yesterday's troubles and putting huge smiles on their current families faces. We couldn’t imagination our lives without them.

One of the four pups found wandering the back wood of GA. After being trapped and evaluated it was decided to give them a chance to turn their ways. Turning a dog from feral to domesticated takes time and patience. The four spent time with a foster who provided them with a wonderful foundation on which I could build.

Myles came up last month and after his adoption into a wonderful home, it was decided to send Holly.

B and I worked with her until she too was ready for adoption. Last week she found her family.

Next week puppy number three will have her turn. Fingers crossed it will go as well.

An empty, winding road curves through a misty, snowy forest.

N575KM Scottish Aviation Bulldog series 125. Originally delivered to the Royal Jordanian Air Force (after a brief time as G-BCAA) during the mid-seventies.

To the USA as N9206F and N575KM.

She has never seen RAF service and the number 400 was used whilst in Jordan.

I arrived with my camera and Dixie arrived with her beautiful smile. We walked through the old village down toward the overgrown cranberry bogs. A red fox was waiting and although Dixie looked his way and asked him to come play, the little fellow ran off. The young black pup, instead, found a pine cone which made for the perfect toss in the air and catch me toy.

We turned, back up the hill, pass the general store. A young couple is spotted and with her bright eyes and wagging tail Dixie summoned them to come to her. She promptly won them over with her charm and she showered them with kisses.

We made our way to the cold water creek. A bit of hesitation at first, but once she felt how refreshing the water could be she joined us. Running and darting, splashing and prancing, biting and licking, jumping and spinning, she learned there were pleasures to founded in the cedar colored current.

I learned several things about Dixie today. She has a charming, win you over personality. She loves to play with anyone, anything, on land and in the water. She loves to give kisses to any one willing to receive them. And I learned a secret. Shhhh, you have to promise not to tell her. She lost a hind leg in an auto accident. She’s a tripod. But don’t tell her as she doesn’t know.

She did not want to hear them, yet his words replayed in her mind on an endless loop. This string of barely audible words; spleen, liver, enlarged, bleeding, tumor, cancer, surgery, months. We will keep him comfortable until the end.

Terri could not have found a better than Casey, he will be her "man" til the end and always

Still waiting for this forever home. Due to the abnormality in this back feet he will never be a marathon runner but honestly either will I and my feet are just fine.

Every other pup I have fostered has had applications and adopted within a few days. Guess everyone in my area is suddenly on a health kick and only wants a dog that can run miles.

Well while they're missing out on a great pup, B and I get to enjoy his company longer.

man's best friend? you bet ♥

Prestwick 13 June 1974. Destined for the Jordanian Academy. Became JY-ADW. C/n BH.120/298. Scanned from my fathers slide. Copyright Jim Cain.

Ozzie the brother of one of the puppies I recently fostered. These pups are growing so quickly in size but still so puppyish in personality. What fun to spent the afternoon with this handsome brindle.

submitted to ODC/ topic ~ taken by surprise

Having three dogs of our own and another being raised for The Seeing Eye, I do not foster for rescue groups. I do take photos frequently for them but generally don't foster. However, recently during a moment of insanity B & I agreed to foster four (yes four) little Labrador puppies for a rescue group. They arrived yesterday. I've had a few more moments of insanity since they arrived :)

Brand: Mei Sheng

Series: N/A

Livery: BCAA Road Assist (British Columbia Automobile Association)

Scale: 1/64 (maybe 1/72)

Base: Black plastic - no information whatsoever

Collector/casting number: N/A

Country of manufacture: N/A

Place/date of purchase: TreasureValleyAntiques.com, 2018

Condition: Damn near mint - 10/10

Remarks/comments: A seemingly very rare casting by this little known toy brand. I've only seen one other photo on the net of this toy/casting/livery. This is obviously a blatant copy of Matchbox's GMC Wrecker almost perfectly. There are some tiny differences if you compare them side by side. The wheels are reminescent of SOMA wheels. Purchased this earlier in the year and to this day, I am still so glad I did because I doubt I'd find another.
