I was beginning to think I wasn't going to make the ten-year run on the 'Watches'… When this popped up tonight. Needless to say, I'm well chuffed.
This tiny little fella was taken up on the Mendip hills.

Some of you may have noticed it's the same shot they used back in 2023... Very pleased to see it getting used again.

Finally getting a chance to watch 'The Hour' on BBC America. After a couple episodes I'm hooked! I really hope they are doing a second season...this show is too good to only do one season. I'm kind of obsessed with Dominic West right now after seeing this and 'Appropriate Adult' on Sundance recently. 'The Wire' is next on my list to check out.
A beautiful, very creative, BBC video to wish Sir David Attenborough a very Happy 100th Birthday!

Five days ago, on 3 May 2026, I FINALLY thought that I would be able to manage a drive!!! This was only the fourth drive I have been on since 2 December 2025 and the first drive since 25 February 2026. My daughter had a free day so was able to come along with me. I had been wary for many weeks of driving my car after all the dashboard lights and the GPS screen went out on two previous occasions when far from home. Also, after my bad head injury last August, I have been so nervous at the thought of going anywhere all winter when there was snow and ice on the ground, as I knew I definitely had to avoid another fall.
This day, though, the ground was bare and I was in my car the whole time. I'm not sure what happened while I was parked, waiting to pick up my daughter. The engine was turned off and suddenly there was a loud bang, sounding almost as if someone had thrown something very hard at my car. The car drove just fine for the hours we were out, thank goodness. Guess I'll see what happens when I drive it next time.
Though we didn't see a huge variety of birds, we did see several interesting things. I don't know what a beautiful Swainson's Hawk was eating, though in one of my photos I think I can see what looks like a bit of white fur. So, I am wondering if it caught a rabbit, snowshoe hare or light fur of a Richardson's Ground Squirrel that had light fur on its body. Whatever the meal was, it definitely did not look appetizing at all! This hawk's mate was on a nearby fence post.
At a different location, my daughter spotted a Common Loon, which was a real treat. Usually, I have to go looking a few times before finally seeing one.
Stopping at another place, a little Muskrat was so cute and so hungry. It wasn't bothered by us sitting in the car, watching.
A few other odds and ends were seen, but I was only able to get a quick, very distant and blurry shot. These included an American Robin, a Yellow-headed Blackbird, Canada Goose, American Coot, a pair of Ring-necked Ducks, a few Tree Swallows, a small group of White-tailed Deer, and (thank goodness) a few Mountain Bluebirds (not the best photos, though). Just one old barn and house, seen many times before, plus a vintage, horse-drawn manure spreader (if the AI Overview description is correct).
The BBC's French language service for Africa says it listens to the continent. At the very least, they have had some very hard-working employees over the years. Behind, a residential street in Kinshasa. Like the rest of the city, it was largely barren on election day as shops, restaurants and markets shuttered their doors (at least the ones that have doors).
A popular-beat combo called U2 performed from the roof of British
Broadcast House of the BBC next to All Souls Church in Central London
last week. Seeing a short clip on TV reminded me of anothercoffee
meeting where this photo was taken. As the pop video camera swung
around the Irish performers playing to fans from their roof stage, I
recalled this magic space above the bustling streets where the surprise
is not musical but urban.
