SNCF MTE Class BB 25150 1.5kV DC/25kV AC 4,600/5,540 hp Bo-Bo No.BB 25188 (built 1974) at Longueville depot during the AJECTA Festival, 8 May 2023. Designed by Andre Jacquermin, this mixed traffic design was just one of many classes of similar designs originating in 1957, differing in voltage, power, gearing and updates built over many years and were a highly successful group of classes.
The 45 members of the BB 25150 Class (built in three batches 1967-69, 1974 & 1976-77) were a development of the BB 25100 Class (25 built in 1964-65). All were withdrawn in 2003-13. In 2003 4 were re-geared to become members of the specialised express passenger version, the BB 25200 Class, 50 being built in 1965-67 and 1974. The ‘Jacquerimin’ classes exemplified the rather distinctive styling of French electric locomotives.
The BB-22 is a modern twist on an old classic. A jack-of-all-trades workhorse of any navy or pirate fleet.
With a dual-frag-turret on it's bow, and tracking ion cannons fore, aft and dorsally, it is capable of holding ground against both capital ships and fighters, although not both and not in great numbers.
The BB-22 is usually found tightly tucked into escort position around a larger ship, or screening a cargo vessels from assault.
