The proprietor of this stall was the first to wave an entire scoopful of spice in my face.

I almost bought everything he had. Really, it's a miracle I'm not now a spice merchant in the Misir Carsisi.

The bazaar and the nearby Mahmutpasa Mosque was commissioned by the Ottoman Grand Vizier Mahmud Pasha (d. 1474) during the rule of Sultan Mehmed II in 1462.
