The Grand Bazaar (Bāzār e Bozorg) is an old historical bazaar in Tehran, Iran. It is split into several corridors over 10 kilometres in length, each specializing in different types of goods, and has several entrances, with Sabze-Meydan being the main entrance.

In addition to shops, the Grand Bazaar contains mosques, guest houses, and banks.

The bazaar grew as a "city within a city" for much of the 19th century, but there has been an open bazaar long before. (Wikipedia)

Egyptian Bazaar

The Egyptian Bazaar (Misir Carsisi in Turkish) is also known as Spice Market. It's located just behind the Yeni Mosque at Eminonu district, at the entrance of the Golden Horn. The Bazaar was originally made of wood in mid-17th century by the architect Kazim Aga, and got its final restorations during mid-forties. The name comes from the fact that Egyptians used to sell their spices here and that it once received income from taxes levied on Egypt. Instead the English name comes from the days when the Bazaar specialized on selling spices and herbs, medicinal plants and drugs. Lately there are also shops selling stuff other than spices but you can still see and smell many interesting spices, dried fruits and nuts, teas, oils and essences, sweets, honeycombs, and aphrodisiacs.

The Spice Market has 86 shops inside and there stands a plant market on one side and a food market on the other. There are 6 gates on an L-shaped Bazaar. The ceiling is higher respect to Grand Bazaar and this is also covered with domes.

"The Grand Bazaar (Turkish: Kapalıçarşı, meaning ‘Covered Bazaar’; also Büyük Çarşı, meaning ‘Grand Bazaar’ in Istanbul is one of the largest and oldest covered markets in the world, with 61 covered streets and over 3,000 shops which attract between 250,000 and 400,000 visitors daily. In 2014, it is listed No.1 among world's most-visited tourist attractions with 91,250,000 annual visitors." (from Wikipedia)

Nye, rejuvenated by a coffee at the German Bakery, striding strongly, if slightly bandy leggedly, back up the hill to our lodge! Most of the climbing equipment sold in Namche, is not "genuine", indeed some of it is made in the back rooms of the shops that sell it. The popular brand North Face, is usually pronounced 'North Fake' here! But while Windstopper jackets can cost $200 elsewhere, the one I bought here cost me $34, and worked every bit as well!

The Spice Bazaar was and still is the center of the spice trade in Istanbul. As many spices were imported from Egypt in the Ottoman period, it is also known as Egyptian Bazaar. The building was erected in 1664--it is the second largest covered shopping complex after the Grand Bazaar. In view is its Western entrance. Walking through this amazing covered market place is recommended just to pick up on the amazing fragrances.
