The last glimpse of the city before I leave.

of an unforgiving nightmare

to the jeweled vision of a life started anew.”

small hamlet on Northumberland / County Durham border, ½ mile out of Blanchland, only 3 houses that I could see.

Fog is a common weather phenomenon in San Francisco to the point that they had to give it a name: Karl the Fog. This is shot from the upper deck of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Brdige.

I got a request from my wife to have a print made from this location, and the day I went to get the shot conditions were perfect. At blue hour the tide was high and a lot of clouds were rolling through. This was a single 2 minute exposure and I used a 4 stop Rev GRD ND filter to balance the bright lights of the bridge with the rest of the scene.

The view from Coit Tower of San Francisco downtown with the unmistakable skyline.

The new eastern span of the Bay Bridge is eye catching at night; the lighting is even, at least above the deck. Good vantage points remain scarce.

Security is tighter on Yerba Buena Island these days. We were walking on Macalla Road when we told by a private security patrol (something I haven't seen before) to get back to public space. Maybe it's because the redevelopment of the island is theoretically breaking ground in 2014?
