The Bathurst Showground is of state significance for its association with the larger agricultural region which contributed significantly to the economy and development of the state. The Bathurst Show became recognised as one of the best agricultural shows in NSW in regards to the quality of the livestock and exhibits, demonstrating both the success of farming in the region and the pride locals took in their produce and show.

The showground demonstrates a continuity of historical activity, the site being used continually as a showground since 1878. This is one of the earliest sites that has been used continuously and has some of the earliest extant showground buildings including the Howard Pavilion which was designed by Edward Gell and erected in 1879. Additionally, the showground is of high architectural merit with particular care being taken with the placement of buildings and the architectural styles in which they were built. This attention was extended to the landscape setting, thereby creating a landmark in the town of Bathurst and the region. The Bathurst showground along with Glen Innes, Singleton Showgrounds contains the most comprehensive array and aesthetically cohesive suite of showground buildings in NSW regional towns and is thus one of a small group of iconic or'ideal' country show grounds.

The showground is significant as an example of agricultural showground, which often form an important focus for rural communities and aid in the social and technical development of rural and regional areas and consequently historically assisted with the development of industry and economy of the state. The Bathurst Showground is a worthy representation of this rural establishment having attracted people from a wide geographical area and it is an outstanding example of its type with regard to its aesthetic appeal and longevity. www.environment.nsw.gov.au/heritageapp/ViewHeritageItemDe...

April 15, 2011:

It was sunny in Bathurst today, but it was cold with a light, freezing breeze. The trick was to find a windbreak. In this case it was one of the show ground buildings.

This is a 23 frame panoramic, processed with free HDR software [easyHDRbasic]. 100mm lens.

I remember my grandparents had quite a few panos framed and hanging in their house. Black and whites mostly but some were hand tinted.

They fascinated me.

Bathurst Motor Festival 2014

NSW Road Racing Club Regularity

Over the Easter Long weekend members of the NSW Road Racing Club competed at the Bathurst Motor Festival in Regularity events.

Due to the numbers involved the competitors were divided in to two groups. Each group completed a Practice Session on Good Friday, then Two Trials on both Saturday & Sunday.

Unfortunately due to accidents and recovery & clean ups track time was reduced for several of the events.

Overall, the competitors enjoyed the weekend, while some damage to cars did occur this is all part of racing.

After demolition, this was what the paint on the brick looked like. They kept it. I would opt to do the same in our space on the fourth floor.
