A pink colored coating was put on top of the wet bed cement that was applied yesterday. This coating turns dark red when it dries and creates a sealed liner that will have a second wet bed of cement applied then another red coat and then the tiles can begin.

How my husband became my hero:

While I was staring at the aftermath of this horrible epoxy grout at 1am and ready to cry, Jeff ran upstairs and googled the hell out of this stuff.

Then he came back downstairs and began diligently scrubbing every piece of tile with a tiny paint scraper and vinegar. It didn't get everything off, but it worked better than anything else we had on hand at one o'clock in the morning.

AND because there's only a 12 hour window where the vinegar solution actually works, he stayed up until 4AM scrubbing the horrible epoxy grout off our new tiles.

MY HERO.

The pebble floor was laid in the shower today.

The beam was stained with a fruitwood oil stain today which will bring it closer to the tones of the other wood installations.

The old insanely large can light that was over the old tub/shower.

Hi. We've spent over 4 years remodeling this house and bringing it back from the depths of Hunter Green Hell. If you find anything dangerous, f---ed up, or really really ugly, it wasn't us. It was the Blevins' (a.k.a. "Monkey Family" because they lived like a pack of wild monkeys). We are merely 2 people, married and in our 30s, trying to make our first home feel a bit homey-er. We hope you enjoy our hard work and make it your home too.
