I can highly recommend jumping on the open top Bath city tour bus, you can get on and off as you go around and of course you have some great vantage points up high. I was disappointed with the second route that’s available on the ticket, it sweeps out of the city and around the outskirts but most of the views are blocked by trees. So my advice would be do the city route once, get an idea of what you want to photograph then go a second time jumping on and off along the route
I have been on Flickr for many years but, as I don’t upload as many photos as I used to I decided it wasn’t worth paying a subscription.

33931 YX66 WDT repainted out of its former Portway Park and Ride livery, into Bathcity after the loss of the portway and Bris PR contract these vehicles were moved over to Bath, only one so far has been repainted and certainly looks unique with the black pillars at the top. Photographed working the X39
I'm guessing the make..... I never saw a badge saying so. During the Wednesday evening classic car cruise in. The fuzzy dice are a great touch :-)

The Theatre Royal in Bath, built in 1805. A Grade II* listed building, it has been described by the Theatres Trust as "One of the most important surviving examples of Georgian theatre architecture". It has a capacity for an audience of around 900. The theatre entrance from Sawclose.
Bath city Somerset.
With the influx of numerous Enviro400s new to the Olympics operation in 2012, the Bath City brand is now far more prominent than my last visit a couple of years ago. Here, 33722 heads past Broad Quay catching the evening August sunshine.

As I’m not posting to Flickr as often as I used to I decided to drop my pro account and just let it die, it worked out to £2 a post last year, I have started a another account John Garghan Artist

Been living down here for nearly 5 years and this was one of the few times that I have done the tourist day out in Bath complete with open top bus tour, although any time I have to go to the city I make sure I pop into the little sweat shop over there because they sell the best range of liquorice.
The borders of Bath now occasionally extend down to Salisbury, with the odd Bath City-livered Volvo B7RLE occasionally popping up on the D1 down in to Wiltshire. 69457, one of a number of Volvo B7RLEs new to Bristol for the 8 and 9 to Bristol Temple Meads, heads back to its home city in this view.

Optare Solo M8500SL, new to First West of England in September 2018.
Seen here operating a route 2 'Bathcity' service to Combe Down.
There are 9 Bath City Optare Solo SRs in service. Here is 53855 as it crosses the River Avon.

Not all of the BathCity Solos are of the new variety; the local native fleet new in 2005 are beginning to wear the colours more regularly too. 53806 heads up St. James's Parade here with an unknown working.
For all of my photos from Bath, please visit:
The BathCity network was revitalised in late 2018 with the arrival of a small batch of Optare Solo SRs, wearing the BathCity branding. These are allocated to the local city routes and are the first sizeable delivery of smaller buses since the previous Optare Solos arrived in 2005, then seeing off most of the Mercedes-Benz minibuses. This is 53858 passing along Pierrepont St in Bath.

Again as with Kernow and BoS in the South West, First continue to introduce local branding for their fleets, this is the one for Bath.
Glad that the fleet number is a good size, shame it doesn't stand out very well!
Still make of it what you will, is this another 'winner' livery from First?
Due to an increased need for capacity due to Covid, the shorter D1 between Trowbridge and Bath has been modified to a D1x, operating on a more direct route away from the low bridges and bringing double decks to the area. Formerly an Aberdeen Platinum bus, and now in unbranded Bath City blue, here 37642 pauses at the town bridge en-route for Trowbridge.

It has been the best part of 8 years since last visiting the spa city of Bath, and a lot has certainly changed... Most certainly, the city was one of the first outside of London to introduce a Clean Air Zone, this has meant a major modernisation of First West of England's Bath base which need to meet Euro 6 emission standards.
Since last visiting the West of England; Bath Spa in 2013 and Bristol as recent as 2018, there have been a number of changes; notably the ongoing rebranding of First's regional bus subsidiaries with Bristol and Bath being no exception.
First West of England's Bath base is one of the more modern within the First portfolio. thanks in no small part to the recently introduced Clean Air Zone, requiring buses and other heavy good vehicles to meet Euro 6 emission regulations.
Bath has been home to a small selection of Alexander Dennis Enviro200s since the end of 2012, with so far only 7 being based in the city operating primarily short-urban services. Whilst First West of England have 9 in the fleet, 2 of which are currently based at Hengrove located within Bristol.
6 of the 7 Enviro200s based in Bath have recently received repaints into the smart Bathcity livery; 44556 being one such example, a former First Cymru vehicle which transferred across the border in late-2018 and has remained in Bath ever since.
Alexander Dennis Enviro200 44556 (YX13 AFA) rounds Corn Street, Bath on 20a to Bath City Centre, Anti-Clockwise.
Bath operate 6 Volvo B9TLs acquired from First Leeds. At the time of my visit, only 36231 had received base Bath City livery, although the vinyls had not yet been applied. It is pictured pausing at St. James's Parade.

Bath operate a number of the former Sheffield Steelink Wright Streetdecks, which all carry the colours of the former service in Yorkshire. Some have been modified to be Bath Spa Unibuses, as illustrated here by 35131.

69448 was one of a number of Volvo B7RLEs new to Bristol for services both on the country 376 to Wells and the city 8/9 route connecting Bristol Temple Meads. '448 was one of the former, operating the Mendip Explorer routes, before they were famous.

Following First Greater Manchester having reduced in significant size since 2019, a number of buses transferred to their other subsidiaries once their loans from Diamond Buses was complete.
Between 2019 and 2020, Bath received 18 Enviro400s having been transferred from First Greater Manchester. A large portion have already been repainted into two-tone blue Bathcity livery, however most have yet to receive vinyls.
Alexander Dennis Enviro400 33753 (SN12 AOO) waits at Dorchester Street, Bath on 3A to Elmhurst.
Another former Sheffield Steelink although this time with no branding, here 35124 passes in to the city centre on route 1, which is usually operated by the remaining Wright Streetlites at Bath.
