Checking out a new area near San Sebastian. A 550m climb followed by the descent back down. The track is very like the Innerleithen DH's, very rooty, rocky and rutted and very tricky to ride fast.

This trail probably isn't going to make it into our 2013 trails. It has lots of great ingredients but we felt it didn't quite fit together right. Maybe some more tweaking. More thoughts on this over on www.basquemtb.com
This Saturday the forecast for the Basque coast was a bit bad so we drove around 1hr 45mins to the Pyrenees. The trail today was Epic, lots and lots of singletrack and v. technical. The final descent was something special. More info here:

Probably my last photo from Scotland, I'm back to the Basque Country this weekend! It's been great seeing my parents and friends but it's time to get back, I'm looking forward to it. This was self filmed and took a few go's to get right!
Mountain bike holiday in the Spanish Pyrenees. Again we had the privilege of guiding another group of mountain bikers on a holiday taking in some of the best biking in this part of Spain. We drive between locations in the van over this week long mountain bike holiday, riding in the best locations. We do plenty of uplift in the van and some "gravity assisted" point to points which gave us around 12,000m descending on pristine singletrack with only 3000m of climbing through the week.
Recently my mountain bike adventures have been constrained to the margins of the day. It has been a special time, you can read about it over on my blog with more pictures. I hope you enjoy them! www.basquemtb.com/basque-mountain-biking-at-sunset-and-su...

We had a group visit from Colorado. Great fun and there wasn't a quiet moment all week. Most of the photos are not from riding, purely because we were having so much fun!
This is a lovely bit of trail. It goes all the way to the coast but is very technical in places. We often ride down here for a snack stop and then you can descend an alternative way to the coast. It's a stunning place to sit and eat something!

Testing out my new Marzocchi 55's. So far the verdict is PLUUUSH!
I'll put up some information about the Marzocchi's in the next day or so over on www.basqueMTB.com
Riding by the coast in January. The cloud was piled up on this ridge but on the coast it was blue skies. We rode all day, using a van uplift to get a free 550m of downhill!
Al and Kirsten joined us for the second time in a year for a MTB holiday. Al is a SMBLA tutor and Kirsten and Jamie are equally capable riders so we have spent most of the week riding up, and down, big mountains!
Some photos from David and Lesley's mountain bike holiday in the north of Spain. We had some mixed weather but managed to find blue skies. The waves were incredible and we enjoyed a few days riding on the stormy coast. I also tested out a new route along the coast which worked pretty well. I'll get more photos and some video up on www.basquemtb.com soon.

Today we drove into Navarra to search out the Spanish sun for our holiday guests. Great trails and blue skies.

It's great to be at the top of a mountain, just as the sun is setting isn't it? It would only be better if it was dawn!

The first section of the descent. To get here was HARD, I need to spend more time scoping out a route up. That's Penas in the background, check out how low it looks!

On our rental hardtails! It looks so easy but it was quite tricky. There was a gathering of people to see if I crashed which made it that much harder!
A still from a video I shot with Alistair Roberts who was on holiday with us in the Basque Country. If you'd like to see the video and the full story then have a look at www.basqueMTB.com/video-cove-gspot-mountain-bike-versus-e...

Today Tom and Alfy rode a big figure of eight taking in Cheeky Larun and Carlos's Ridge. A big, technical day out in the mountains and definitely testing for everyone (me too!).
Some photos from last week's of riding with some skills input and training from Ed Oxley. You can read about our week here: www.basqueMTB.com/skills-adventure-holiday-with-greatrock
Foot out flat out and still smiling for the camera, the boy's a pro! This is on the Jaizkibel berm trail that I found recently, loose sandy berms which are great for brushing up your technique on.
By the time I got to the top the temperature inversion had lifted a bit. Pity.
