This covered basket is about four inches across. Best if viewed on black.
Many of you have commented on the lighting for this shot so I thought I would let you know what I did to get this shot. I set the basket on a black background that covered the wall and the table. I used a tripod to compose the shot with a 10 second self timer and one spotlight facing the camera. I used a piece of white bristol board above and to the left of the camera, curved by hand to reflect the light onto the subject. In processing, I increased the blacks slightly and filed up the vibrancy a bit.
Basket Flower (Adenanthos obovatus), also called Jugflower. Found growing alongside Two Peoples Bay Road within the boundaries of Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve. The reserve is just east of Albany, on the south coast of Western Australia.
My second basket project, though a class with Katherine Lewis of Dunbar Gardens. Great class- very exhausting to make a basket of this size if you're not used to it!
Most baskets have been removed from our local basketball courts. Basketball was big here in Kentucky. Soccer is getting bigger. Yesterday was also the traditional Easter for many Christians. Russian Orthodox tradition has Easter this year as May 2. They go by different calendars. I'm guessing these baskets were removed to promote social distancing - I hope they weren't stolen. Perhaps they're just being replaced at some point in time in the future - the kids do have fun here. Someone spent a lot of time and effort to remove all of these baskets throughout the area. I hope the effort was worth it.
Inside the locker room of an abandoned steel mill. These metal baskets & bags were lockers for the workers & used to protect their street clothes & personal belongings during their shift. The bags/baskets were raised up into the ceiling and the chains were locked down below. To me it makes sense to use this method as it maximizes the use of space.
