Macro Mondays theme : Water
Making a cool and refreshing cucumber water is quite simple and has many potential health benefits. However, this time it was for the simple pleasure of creating a nice photography.
Instead of plain water I used sparkling water and added a thin slice of cucumber measuring 1.5” in diameter. A small basil leaf is also floating on the surface of the water.
Thank you everyone for your visits, faves, and kind comments

MACRO MONDAY - Theme “Sweet Spot Squared”
Ok, I hope I understood that theme right....
1. Found some nice sweets and "saved" it for the shooting :-)
2. Searched in the manuals and google for the "Sweet Spot" of my lense and ended up wih f5.6
3. Used my Table Top installation few weeks ago, very useful :-)
4. Arranged the subject ladybird in basil leaf and got as close as I could.
5. I used a tripod, which was definitively necessary :-)
6. Because of the color, I corrected a little bit the saturation, a ladybird has to be red.
That's it ! HMM
This quarter-inch Long-legged fly (Genus Condylostylus) is iridescent in the right light.

This tiny long-legged fly (genus Condylostylus) is just a quarter inch long and was hanging out a little while ago on one of my basil leaves. Pretty little critter, isn’t it?

A photo that I discovered on my iPhone that I took almost a year ago. I cant remember the name of the panini but I believe it may have been the cashew chicken.
This would be made with cashew chicken salad, tomato, provolone and honey mustard,
I remember not posting the photo because I wasn't thrilled with how it turned out. After running across it again I moved it from my iPhone to my HP and ran the photo through Windows Media Editor. I like how it turned out
That afternoon my wife and I were out for a drive and decided to stop in at Trio Coffee, Wine and Ale House in Waseca Minnesota for Lunch. We really enjoyed our meal
Sandy's pet portraits of Ed have inspired me to go after my own. Since I have a thing for live portraits, I had to catch her sleeping. lol. Still she managed to stay in one position for only 15 minutes before she stretched and turned the other way.
also wanted to play around with new brushes features. AAWESOME!!!!!!!!!
iPhone/finger/brushes (juuuuust brushes)/and my little basilleaf (we've been together for 11years now...moving cross country and everything! :-))

I found this itsy-bitsy spider web on a rolled-up basil leaf yesterday. I could not see the itsy-bitsy spider that made it.

A heads-up: When Flickr rolls out its "new experience" to everyone, not just to beta testers, I will probably stop posting here. I'll stay on to administer my groups and to enjoy and augment my galleries, but from what I've seen and read so far, I (who is admittedly averse to change) probably will not like it. One of the problems is that I have always had a problem reading white text on a black background, and that is even more a problem with my aging, sick eyes.
Here is one thread about the loss of our ability to share photos in comments, which will make group and gallery administration impossible if F/Y (I just realized what that also stands for!) decide to retain this bad change.
Significantly, there was a long thread as of yesterday that had photos of the new format and tons of complaints about it. That thread is now gone. Apparently F/Y didn't wait until scores of thousands of users complained about it, as happened with the first major format change on May 20th. This is the photo that was used by the photographer to start that thread.
EDIT: Here is the closed thread.
Here's a feedback thread about the current beta version.

INGREDIENTS
1 container (8 oz) fresh mozzarella ciliegine cheese (24 cherry-size balls)
1 can (11 oz) Pillsbury® refrigerated original breadsticks (12 breadsticks)
3 tablespoons basil pesto
1 tablespoon Crisco® 100% Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Pure Olive Oil
2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
24 frilled toothpicks
24 grape tomatoes
24 fresh basil leaves
DIRECTIONS
1. Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 24 mini muffin cups with Crisco® Original No-Stick Cooking Spray. Drain cheese balls; pat dry with paper towels.
2. On work surface, unroll dough; separate into 12 breadsticks. Cut each breadstick in half crosswise; press each half into 3x2-inch rectangle.
3. Spread rounded 1/4 teaspoon of the pesto lengthwise down center of each dough rectangle. Place 1 cheese ball on each rectangle. Carefully stretch dough around cheese; pinch edges to seal completely. Place seam sides down in muffin cups. Brush with oil; sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
4. Bake 14 to 20 minutes or until deep golden brown. Cool in pan 5 minutes. Remove from pan. With each toothpick, spear tomato and basil leaf; insert into cheese ball. Serve warm.
For recipe success, use fresh mozzarella cheese balls only.
Growing up, I believe I had ham and cheese sandwiches maybe three times. My mom had found a recipe in a cookbook, and one day she announced she was going to make me a Hawaiian sandwich (The recipe included a piece of slices pineapple from a can, thus Hawaii). It was great, but once you open a can of pineapples you are committed to doing something with the remaining 9 slices, so my mom quickly stopped making the sandwich. A couple of weeks ago I had a dream about it (the dream also involved Jay Leno having purchased a personal Nuclear Missile painted bright red with warning signs, which was bolted down in his back yard with chains. Don’t ask, it was a dream). As you can imagine, it got stuck in my subconscious. I know, dreaming of sandwiches probably means we’re spending too much time writing this blog. Anyway, here is my variation of a Ham and Cheese Sandwich, without the pineapple.
More sandwiches and this recipe can be found at Amazing Sandwiches

My Basil Plant: A month ago, I bought my first basil plant, it was initially for my cooking, however I did not manage to finish it. As I water it few times a day, everyday, I can no longer eat it. Thus, I thought of using it as my practice film subject.

Up close shot of my brother's basil plant in the outside yard. Wish I had grown my plant this year... I love basil in dishes! Taken with the Canon S95

caseorganic: Apparently this cat brings in 2-3 birds a week, then proceeds to devour everything but the head.
brennannovak: So, he's still ordering appetizers then?
christinekistner: Oh geeze that would creep me out....finding dead birds randomly throughout the house
knattja: Try this, even though it looks a bit silly: catgoods.com/
caseorganic: @knattja Great! I'll recommend this to my cousin. This is her cat!
thehouseofdis: Why I will never own a cat.
basilleaf: a collar bell might give birds more warning, more frequent play with human-powered wand+string toys may also reduce outside hunting time.
