These can stay underwater for up to 30min, and are fast runners.
I looked into its eyes for a while, and I wasn't turned to stone.

A bad picture of a Basilisk Lizard taken in Cahuita National Park, Costa Rica. I thought it might be a plumed Basilisk (Basiliscus plumifrons), purely because of the color. Does anyone know if this is right? Would be great to get a positive id!
Basilicus plumifrons
Range: Mexico to Panama
The Green Basilisk is widely known as the Jesus Christ lizard due to its ability to sprint upright across the surface of a body of water. They have long toes on their rear feet with fringes of skin that unfurl in the water, increasing surface area. As they run, they slap their feet hard against the water, creating a tiny air pocket that keeps them from sinking, providing they maintain their feet. They can maintain this behavior for 15 feet or more. As I also learned, they can make a very good mean face.
One of numerous Basilisk Lizards, often called Jesus Lizards for their ability to run on top of water, around the yard likes to sun itself here nearly every morning, unless a bigger one wants this spot. I am still hoping to catch one running upright one day. They are so fast I have doubts about my chances of that. Have a nice week end .
Here is a Green Crested Basilisk reclining on a downed tree. These lizards are also known as Jesus Christ lizards because they can literally run across water.

Basiliscus plumifrons
The green basilisk lizard is also called a plumed or double-crested basilisk; but its amazing ability to run on water gives this species its most recognizable moniker: the Jesus Christ lizard.
Basiliscus plumifrons (Corytophanidae) Helmeted Lizards
Appearance: Length, including tail, can be up to 85 cm. Adult color is bright green, or slightly blue-green. Males have distinctive, high crests on their heads and backs, which they use to impress females. The females have only one small crest. During the first months of their lives, young ones are a brownish/olive green color, with bright green heads.
Distribution: Central and South America. Habitat: Arboreal and semi-aquatic; inhabit the trees and bushes of the rainforest often along riverbanks.
Diet: Omnivores: plant material, insects, fruit, and small vertebrates.
Mortality/Longevity: Life span is up to 10 yearsin captivity. In the wild raptors, opossums, and snakes prey upon the lizards.
Remarks: The green basilisk lizard has been called the “Jesus Christ” lizard, because of its ability to walk on water. The rear feet have long toes with fringes of skin that unfurl in the water, increasing surface area. The lizard rapidly moves its legs as it slaps its splayed feet hard against the water. This creates tiny air pockets that keep it from sinking, provided it keeps running fast enough. When gravity eventually takes over, the basilisk is an excellent swimmer.

Ideas Grand Prize Winner
This design was a MOC that I entered into the 2018 LEGO Ideas Contest for Wizarding World builds. It took the Grand Prize in the Magical Creatures category!
It was the first all-nighter that I ever pulled to create a LEGO design. Though technically it was an accidental all-nighter. The Basilisk's segments were challenging to figure out!
