The barred owls in the woods must have a nest somewhere close by. They hunt along the drive almost every evening and sometimes even during mid-day.

Stretching nicely in takeoff

To me this owlet looks like it has on a fur cloak.

Thanks so much for the visit!

A barred owl watches from a low branch as I slowly walk past on the trail.

Soggy and wet in Smyrna, Delaware...

A Barred Owl blends right into its environment. I almost missed him/her sitting there quietly watching me :)

This owl was resting peacefully but when a passing dog barked it was suddenly alert and decided it needed to find a new place to hang out.

This young Barred Owl is one of the 2 youngs raised in this patch of forest. I was able to spot this owlet at the top of a big tree.

Cette jeune chouette rayée est un des 2 petits ayant vu le jour dans ce boisé. J'ai réussi à trouver et observer ce petit au sommet d'un grand arbre

This particular Barred owl has been around in the park for more than two months. Whenever I walk along the trail I see her sitting on the same group of trees in the same Zen posture (eyes closed, oblivion to the busy world around her), occasionally scratching or yawing. Sometimes I take a photo or two, often times I don't. This photo is heavily cropped and taken with a telephoto lens at the onset of a big yawn that appears like a smile. Downsview Park
